Winter, May 29 2010 pics .

I guess we are having an extended winter this year. It reminds me of May 2007 except the power is still on ,,, touch wood. :???:

Last Wed, finished seeding and rolling the field.

Poor little humming bird ,I hope they survive this cold and wet.

A couple of boys, they look not very pleased with the snow.

The girls brought their calves up to the home quarter at around 4 this morning . I woke up to bawling and it had just started to snow. Got them all fed and lots of straw in the calf shelters so they can snuggle in and wait for it to warm up.

I imagine we will be cleaning up trees for the next week, love the moisture but hate when it comes so late and does so much damage. Things should really start to grow as soon as we get some heat. We also got 2 inches of rain yesterday. I hope this is the start of a bumper crop this year like it was in '07 after the May snow storm.

Unbelievable. Well at least when it warms up, stuff should grow pretty fast with all the moisture.

Snow/rain/snow/rain/ looks aweful wet and soggy here as well, and I cannot believe how much cows eat in a storm. 55lbs of 2nd cut hay and staw and will still be hungry tomorrow. You are correct, we already have had more rain than all of last years growing season. 0 is cutting it close, all I need on my canola, wheat and hay crops is a big frost, maybe the snow is insulating against this?.

hillsdown, from the look of it, looks like that wet, heavy snow took down some tree limbs, what did it do to power lines in your area?

Thanks everyone. Dylan I sure hope this means the end of the drought.

PC I hope everyone should be OK as far as freezing crops go ,as well as the calves. Fingers crossed and prayers.

Garn the power is still on everywhere, they did a lot of work a few months ago replacing poles and lines everywhere so that might have done the trick.

Thanks FH, we fell in love with the house as soon as we saw it, it is our dream home .

BMR the house has swelled alot with all this rain and now no longer leaks. But we have lots of work to do on it. Hubbies architect brother is coming with his family for 3 weeks in July and I think they should help out a little for room and board.. :wink:

Cows took their calves back to the west pasture late this afternoon so maybe things are going to let up a bit. 8)
