wire winders

We use a wire winder that has its own 5.5hp Briggs & Stratton engine. It is called the EZ barbwire roller and came out of Texas. It cost $798 new.

You can wind wire into the back of a pickup or a flatbed if you tie the darn thing down.

It rolls 1/2 mile of single strand wire into a roll. If you are just getting rid of fencing, it will wind up to 5 or 6 wires, obviously not more than a few hundred yards.

I can't imagine needing tractor power to wind wire unless you are doing something special.

Last year when the railroad replaced their fences, the contractor just took a small tractor - about 40 hp - and started doubling the wires up all at once. It ended up about 300 feet long and was about a foot in diameter. If you have a gulch to put it in, it ok. I think it was gone the last time I went by so they did something with it.

We use an EZ Roller which is made by a company in Spearman, Texas. I have to say that is one of the few really good things to come from Texas. They are easy to use and one person can handle the thing and when we get goin one person can get 5 1/4 mile long runs of barb wire rolled in about 20 minutes. Like I said it is one of the few good things to ever come from Texas

We built a Hydraulic wire roller out of junk we had laying around. Needed something after losing nearly 5 miles of fence in a fire in 98. Works well on barb wire but really shines in rolling smooth hi-tensile wire. Variable speed control allows for safety and speed. Can roll wire just like a new roll if you pay attention!

In the words of the Imortal Cowsense "we need pictures." You don't have to be in the nude rolling the wire. Please no.

BMR; You're welcome to come take pictures any time you want ; if you can't make it just send Tam! Owning a camera would just be another concession to becoming a tech slave!
