Ty and his buddy were out hunting this A'M-they rattled in a couple bucks then a doe came whipping up to them. She held up and then took off with a big yellow wolf behind her. He gave a doe bleat and stopped him at 60 yards but never got a crack at him. Would of been pretty neat to get one with a muzzleloader-he says that logging area is just polluted with wolf tracks-there's about 400 cows and calves within a couple miles of it too. Guess the wolves up here like deer better than beef. Ty said he heard him howl a bit later so maybe he did get her after all. I can see the wolves hanging out there because there are deer everywhere too.

We have wolves here. See them and a lot of sign ,but I have not had any problem yet. Northwest of here a fella claims he loses 10% of his calves every year. Nieghbor here lost his dog to a wolf. Dog was tied up in the back yard. DNR paid for the loss. Coyotes took a light weight steer a couple years ago. They got it along a fence line and ran it to death like they do deer. Elk herd is just north of us so maybe that will keep them fed. I remember when I was a kid back in the late 50's my dad and uncles would try to get a wolf as there was a bounty on them. That was in Minnesota. We have way too many Turkeys here so that may keep them off the cattle.

Ty's lucky that the wolf didn't come after him!
And shooting wolves is completely illegal down here, if I could, I'd exterminate every one of the useless predators in the country. I just don't see bringing them back to where we had gotten rid of them before.......derned "greenies"............

I have no idea what your laws are........ :?

Ohh Ty was as safe as in his momma's arms-you can legally take wolves with a fur licence up here. If wolves were as bloodthirsty as they are portrayed here there wouldn't be a poodle or a kid left in northern Saskatchewan. I don't care if somebody's third cousin had a neighbor lived by his uncle heard of somebody got bit by one.

I agree NR, we have wolves around here too and they dont bother pets or humans, but they do like livestock. Heck if some of these American ranchers werent dragging all these BSE cows into the bush for the wolves they wouldnt have a wolf problem........
