I just came in from looking at the rain gauge and we are at about 1.5 inches! And it's still raining! Woo Hoo! :D

When you consider we've only had about 3 to 3.5 total so far since the first of the year, that's a pretty big deal. :D

Praise the Lord! :-)

Great news Jinglebob!

I was just looking at the radar and thought to myself that you and John must be getting a good shot! Yippee!

Tap, Liberty Belle, and Faster Horses should either be getting some or should get some tonight!

We had a sprinkle at noon-time. I don't think there was enough to even measure. When you and Jassy get your fill, will you send it north/northeast? It looks like Empty Pockets might have come up empty too :(

This being said, those who are getting pounded with tornados and hail are in our thoughts and prayers.

Cheers---

Once we get, oh, maybe 7 or 8 inches, we'll sure send the rest on to you guys.

Naw, I have faith that the good Lord will send us all just as much as we need. He always has. 'Course, some folks are greedy and want more than he sends to them, sometimes.

Rain is wonderful stuff. maybe I'll have to dig out my rain poem and post it here. :-)

Thanks for the reminder to be thankful for the little bit we did get. That is more than some received, I'm sure. I look forward to your rain poem.

I wrote this 20 years ago or so, when I watched my sons splash in mud in their underwear, after a good rain in a real dry year. Poor little fellers, had never seen the stuff before I don't think. LOL

Rain

The rains that fall
Are the best of all
And they make a cowman smile
He slops thru' the mud
As happy as a stud
Who's been turned with the mares for awhile

The rancher putter's in the shop
Amidst the slop
And he hums a happy tune
You can't make him mad
Or even very sad
City folks think he's a loon

Now, the grass will grow
This he'll know
His cattle will fatten, not die
And he might make a dime
For all of his time
So he grins, as he looks at the sky

City folks don't like rain
They think it's a pain
Us cowmen, we watch it and grin
Some folks don't know
That it makes things grow
God will forgive them, that sin

So if you see a man in a hat
And he ain't too fat
And he's wearin' a great big grin
It means his cattle sold
Or it's raining like hell
Or, it's set in to raining..........again!

Not only a good cowman but a poet too.

Three things a rancher needs.

God
Family
Rain

All the rest will fall into place.

Great poem Jinglebob! Just as true today as it was 20 years ago.

We just had the storm front move thru here an hour ago, rained hard for 30 minutes then the sun came out. Got .80!!!!

I sent it on north so Turkey Track Bar, Lazy Ace and BRG, get your slickers on!

3 to 3.5 inches--You must live in the tropical monsoony area of this Great American Desert   Our Thursday inch plus brought us up to 2.74 for the year....

And it sure helped a lot of folks attitudes......

According to the map there are areas north of us that are supposed to get up to or over 2 inches.

Sure glad I didn't hog it all, like some people I won't mention.

Our normal yearly average for right here is 16 inches. About 12 last year. 10 the year before and maybe 13 the year before that. We are making the average up for them years in the 90's when we were getting 24 to 26 a year. :x

Yep-- you're in the monsoon area-- our yearly average is 11.2 inches...

I guess you're all in the monsoon area...our yearly ave is 10.34  We've had 1.7 inches so far this year, and noone is happy  By the end of May last year we'd had 5.15" Oh well, I'm praying my heart out for rain.

Congratulations to those of you who got/or are getting rain. And I love the poem JB! I'm printing it out.

Nice poem, Jinglebob.

We received some very welcome moisture in the past couple days. Thursday night there was 6/10ths of an inch, with another 2/10ths falling Friday afternoon. Another half inch came during Friday night (last night), and we received another 4/10ths this afternoon. A little bit of hail came with this last rain, but it melted pretty fast and hopefully no damage was done. I did hear one lonesome bullfrog last night, but nothing like the cacaphony of frog symphony that sometimes happens. Hopefully the long extended drought didn't do them in, because they are about the prettiest sounding music makers to be had when they celebrate a recent rain.

Sure glad to hear some of ya are getting some of that gold wet stuff...guess my happy rain danced helped..lol

Yur poem Jinglebob...is true from the heart...I can relate.
