When my dad used to have his "Green Valley Country Music" Hereford bull sales at the ranch, they were held on the last Wednesday in October. Since this is always right before election, one year we had a little fun. We rigged up a "voting booth" along the road into the ranch. A hitching rail was installed, and on the morning of the sale, I took a saddled horse out and tied it to the rail. Under the voting booth, you could see the bottom of a man's legs tucked into his boots. A nearby sign proclaimed, "Don't forget to vote."

A picture of the proceedings was on the cover of the next issue of The Nebraska Cattleman magazine. :wink:
