I need a work coat. I would like American made, non union made coat like carhartt. Any advice? Preferences?

I have one from deluth trading that is a decent coat,. and has lasted about ten years.. and is American made..

I just checked deluth trading but their similar coats are imported as well now. http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens/mens-outerwear/14009.aspx

Cabelas had a nice lightweight jacket a while back that I really liked.. but an oil change and later weld job ruined it.. it didn't start on fire but it sure smoked.. (who would think oil would ruin the flame retardant stuff? )

Dickies brand outerwear is made in the USA!!
Here is a link:

CARHARTT is made in the USA. I thought they were and I just googled it.
There is a sale on Carhartt right now at the A&J Supply in Whitewood, SD.
That's a great little store!

We have a good coat from Cabelos. It's wool, lined, black and red,
and I love it. It was Mr. FH's but I took it over. That kind of coat might
not be what you are looking for, but it was made in the USA.

Good Luck! And good for you for buying Made in the USA!

You won't find a better one. You might find one cheaper, but not better.

They do outsource a few items but they are still top quality. Most is made up around Seattle.

Alot of Carhart stuff is made elsewhere these days. I just bought a new Carhart FR vest that says "made in mexico" on the tag. On some of the welder forums I belong to alot of the guys are griping because tis seems to be the case with most of what they are buying from Carhart.
This is really disheartening. I just noticed that my prefered brand of welding glove is now made in china. I emailed the company asking how they expect the American Tradesman to buy their product when they themselves dont support the American Worker. I got a standard BS answer in a form letter.

Most people I know who work in the elements with their hands would gladly pay a little more for a superior American Made product.
