Dad looked in his diary and he said the 4th of March in 05 was about the earliest the Blue birds have been back here. I think they would be Blue from the cold if they get back that early this year. :shock:

I saw a misplaced meadowlark here in the snow on January 26, 2009. It has been here ever since. They usually don't show up until April.

Mike saw a meadowlark about a week ago, I still haven't seen one yet this year. Our blackbirds were 3 days earlier than last year.

BMR, thanks for looking that up! With temps in the 50/60s lately, spring must already be here... summer must be going to start around April 10? :lol: I'll take it!

A few meadowlarks winter here most every winter, I haven't seen any this year though. The are usually seen around the hay yards or bales.
I don't see the big flocks of Horned Larks anymore that there once was.

The kind we have, have red head white body and black wings and a long pointey beak. Like Woody Wood Peker. rd :lol:

alot of bluebirds winter in this area. But they seem to be gone early this year. Now I know where they went.
