Growing up in western Wyoming in a high mountain valley. There were 2 kinds of cows Herford's and Holstiens. one grazed the mountains in the summer the others got milked twice a day f till dried up and freshened again. The mountain drained water to the snake and Columbia, the Smith fork and Bear, then the Green and Colorado. So when I peed in the water it covers a lot of people. But back to the cows, there was a herd of black angus, that wintered on the farm in the lower valley and trailed to river bottom pastures in the upper valley. This was back before all the PAP testing and lot of the poor things had brisket disease. Before we moved there were cattle brokers that bring in grass cattle and pairs, Most were black angus from lower elevations. after a week or two they load up a 5th wheel trailer and haul those what had started Brisket Disease back to a lower elevation.
