Funny!!!

Is that Stoops?

It was in my local paper this morning that Pelini has got to calm down a little on the sidelines...........................

A video of him slapping players and using "not nice" words has emerged on the internet.

Also said Osborne had a talk with him.

In his defense though, I would have gone nuts during the Oklahoma shellacking. I was looking forward to the game but turned it to Texas and TT after about 5 minutes into the game.

Man, that was ugly.....................

Pelini knows that he's got to tone things down, and he's the one who initiated the contact with Osborne to get some hints on how Tom was always so cool. (Actually, you should see the video of Tom after a ref blew the call on a punt-return fumble of OUs in 1978 - Tom about blew a vein). He's an emotional guy, and everybody knows that and accepts it. You see a video of him chewing out a player (and how many other coaches DON'T use "not nice" language), but you don't see videos of him after players make a nice play and he's high-fiving or chest bumping the guy. The players love him, and you can see that in how hard they play for the guy.

polar opposites.....

Osborne is a class act. Pelini is a hot head pompus ash.

yes Mike it is Stoops. and I thought it was funny as hell !!

I listened to most of the Husker game ( I love greg Sharp...he is a great announcer, you huskers are lucky to have the guy) then we got home to watch the end (and pelini about have his head explode) but we too switched over to the Tech game.

ought to be a wild finish in the Big 12 South.

You're just on a vendetta for life against Pelini because he had the balls to call your savior, Tight-Arse Snyder, on the carpet for running up the score on our reserves. Pelini was 100% correct and had every right to blast that hawk-nosed shmuck. Get over it, Jigs. Snyder wasn't God's gift to football, Tom Osborne is.

did pelini cry about OU running up the score?? Pelini is a putz. unless Osborne can calm him down, he will be the poster boy for a-hole coaches.

I never heard him mention it. I'd be surprised since we outscored them in the second half. Like I said, you're just pissed because he got in Snyder's face and called a prick a prick.

Obviously you're suffering from massive cranial contusions. Where can we send get well cards?

No doubt, Snyder and Osborne have a great amount of respect for each other. Tom was a great coach and representative of your state. Grow up.

I saw the game, I saw the confrontation. When the game is decided and the other guy is putting in reserves, yet you keep your starters in and do all you can to score on those reserves, I don't care what your name is, you're a prick.

If one team doesn't like another team running up the score on them, they have the option of stopping them or walking off the field.................

The way I see it, if you know you are beat and you send the reserves in to finish off the game.........that's not much different than waving a white flag and sending your team to the locker room before the game is over.

What kind of coach would send in the reserves and convey the message of being losers to their team?

You and agree on a lot of things but this argument reminds me of a 6 year old.........................

When the game is decided, you throw in the scrubs. You reward them for all the work they put in and it also helps the team as the experience develops them. It also helps prevent needless injuries to your starters. Almost all coaches do this because it is respectful and just basic common sense. Snyder is one of the few who didn't always follow this. Perhaps that is why, after a generation coaching at K-St., he only had 1 conf. championship.

There's no rule that says coaches have to "call off the dogs", but, in addition to it being common sense, it is somewhat of a gentleman's agreement between coaches. However, a gentleman's agreement is only good between gentleman. If one has a inferiority complex from say, getting his ash handed to him for years and years, he might choose to run up the score rather than follow common sense and tact. I think that calling him on that is the right thing to do and that chiding the one who does call him out is out of line.

Sorry, Jiggsy, but you know I'm right. Now put on your red and get your work done so you can glue yourself to the radio and listen to the Huskers beat the Kansas State champion this afternoon.

When the game is decided, you throw in the scrubs.

That ain't the way it works down here.

A football game lasts for 60 minutes and you play your best til the end, unless you get ahead..and then if you might want to get some reps in your first team, that's up to you. It might be some 2nd or 3rd team players playing during the entire game to keep from getting all of them tired.

The "scrubs" as you call them, are not scrubs at all. They are there to back up and replace the starters as needed throughout the entire game.

Anyone classified as a "scrub" shouldn't be dressed out to start with.

Like I said, before you bench about someone running up the score, you have the option of stopping them.

Never heard of anyone taking out their first team when behind....... :???:

ol sandy pants is just pissed because after years of just OU being the one to spank them, with the occasional Colorado win, ....now there is EVERY team in the Big 12 taking NU behind the woodshed... it is a simple case of spoiled fans getting a dose of thier own medicine.

I think there is no reason EVER to pull the starters, and keep it respectable when playing Nu..... the deserve it, and at home , in front of the ignorant masses, it was even sweeter....

Well, Jiggsy, it appears the Kansas State Champion team DID NOT take the Big Red out behind the woodshed. And I doubt Kansas' 2nd place team will do it, either.

What happened to the Mildcats?

I was suprised at how well they played the first half, but apparently Prince worked his half time magic....and we came out flat...again.

I wish him well in his next job, what ever Jr High he coaches will be looking again in a year or two....
