youth hunt

Yesterday and today was the shotgun youth hunt. Regular gun season doesn't open till next monday. Youth are allow to bag 1 deer while hunting with an unarmed adult.
Here is my daughter's doe. I know it is a truck bed picture but I couldn't help it.
This is her 2nd year in the woods with Daddy. They had a blast!
She is VERY proud of her trophy. We are having back strap for dinner tomorrow.

And here she is all camoed up with the .410 in hand.

Congrats to your Daughter Cert, I bet all of you folks are happy and proud of her ... Is your youth season Antlerless only like Illinois or is it anything goes? Illinois has one that is in October, second weekend I think, and it is antlerless only, they can get normal tags and tag a buck during regular season but they limit that one...

Awesome-those anterless tags are great for kids and adults for that matter. I wish we could get more of them here-the kids and I go on a mulie doe hunt every fall-it's a fun weekend-use it to scout bucks for the next year too. Did she shoot it with a .410 slug my buddies kid got a pretty good bear in their garden with one a few years ago.

No, youth season here is either. I'd really rather they made it antlerless only. There are way too many doe running around here.
Those backstraps were nice and tender and she got the first and the biggest piece!!!
