Can anyone recommend a good cattle guard design?

siprecast.com has some nice concrete cattle guards. We have them here on the ranch. They will hold up to truck traffic very well. They tell us that if it's road legal then they are good to go. Another thing is you don't have to dig a deep hole and don't have to clean them out like the pipe or...

    TICKS

It may sound a little crazy but some years ago a neighbor started putting a flea collar around his ankle just on the outside of his boots. We tried it here and no more problems with the ticks getting on us. We use frontline on the collies and haven't had a problem with them in a long while.

    Chiangus

Just sold the last Chi Angus cow I had. A nice looking 4 year old. Unloaded her at the sale barn and told the receiving guys she had a little hell fire in her. They told me not to worry, they handle that type every week. Long story short, I picked up the insurance check on her last week and was...

    freeze branding bulls

Mine didn't take too well at the 25-28 second range. I have found that I hold the iron on for a full 40 seconds and get a good clean brand every time. Yearlings or older makes no difference. Just my experience. Shaving the area and using 99% alcohol.

    Favorite utility vehicle

We have the Kubota 900 diesel and it's been a great machine. I am thinking about the 4x4 mini truck right now and will probably go that route in addition to the Kubota. The mini truck's are cheaper than a new side by side and the heater and AC are standard on a lot of them. As I understand it...

    Manual Chutes

I bought a Stampede Chute a couple of years ago and have been completely satisfied. The design allows for a one man operation with very little maintenance outside of greasing a couple of times a year.

Working Dogs (This one's for you Soap)

The monkey and the foot ball reminds me of my neighbor who's dog was named Sarge. Old Sarge was no good for anything at all but causing trouble. My female came in season and I penned her up in a heat pen I built. Old Sarge came to visit and had his mouth all bloody from trying to get in the pen...

    Right Of Way Easement Trouble

I Luv Herfords, I have the same problem here in Oklahoma. We have spent around $40,000 trying to just get this guy to use a specific area or to remove the easement. This guy has shot at our guest, turns his cattle in on us and usually only uses the easement when it's muddy so he can rut up our...
