This is a picture of a bull that I purchased in an emergency situation a couple years back. He has turned out to be a pretty good bull. Not my favorite, but gets the job done none the less. This is him, today. He is only used as a spare bull, but has seen action every year. He really puts the...

    March 24th & 25th

This has been my right hand helper the last two days. My middle one who has just turned 5. She learnt the hard lesson of ranching this year. After waiting 2 years for for that pink tagged, diamond assesarized, 22Y heifer to finally have a calf, it just had to be one that didn't make it. You...

Just wondering if anybody has ever been to Peak Dot Ranch Angus Bull Sale. I was thinking of heading down there this year and was wondering if any of you had some thoughts on their program.

    One proud Papa!!!!!!

This should maybe be in Sports but I don't care. My 8yr old son and his team just won the league finals in hockey. It has been an awesome year. For some of you south of the border, hockey is where a bunch of neanderthals chase a frozen biscuit around on a frozen slough. :???: The team just...

Couple cool pictures from the Internet.

I would consider this as close as I ever get to being a Vegitarian. This pretty much sums up North West Saskatchewan this winter. There is a good chance I will burn more diesel pushing snow than feeding cows this winter.

    Magpie Issues. Not Pretty.

We have had this happen before. It was a herd bull last time. Could of dropped a softball in the hole between his shoulder blades. We managed to heal him up. Hope the same for this cow, we caught her quicker. Has anybody else ever had trouble with this?

    Just a Couple Snap Shots

The youngest daughter thinks playing hockey would be pretty cool to. Me and and the boy went to a junior hockey game the other night. This is to funny not to share. She fell asleep on the ride home in the dark the other night. Not sure what the shades were for. It was pitch dark. Just...

Some pictures from trip in early October

I surprised the wife with a trip to Jasper in the Alberta Rockies for our 10th anniversary. We went there on our honeymoon so I thought it would be cool to go back. Some amazing scenery. A little local wildlife. Some more scenery. Mt. Saskatchewan and the North...

    Bringing Home The Replacements ( November 4, 2012 )

Brought the replacement heifers and their mothers home on Sunday. I weaned them when I got home. We now have every calf on the farm weaned or sold. These pairs got caught out on grass while I was trying to get the ones we would be selling home and on feed. The white stuff caught us off gaurd...

    I Feel Like Gcreek!!

Snow, some wind, and now more snow. We have got more snow in last 4 days than we did all last winter. It has many of the ranchers scrambling around here to get cows a little closer to home and on feed. I just finished moving mine in a snow storm last night. Got them half way home to a...

    2012 Edam Fall Fair

It's that time of year again. Our little commercial show is coming up at the end of October. I enjoy this weekend in Edam as much as any other in the year. So many good cattle from some great cattlemen in the Northwest corner of Saskatchewan. If any of you haven't made it out to it, and...

Took Your Advice From This Spring. Hard To Believe!

I had a 3 year old bull that decided he was the boss on our place this summer, instead of me. Put a good run on me and the old man. Not what I want around my place. One of the best built bulls I have ever owned, just the wrong temperament. He had hurt his shoulder early in breeding season...

    Trailing herd to fall pasture.

I moved one herd of mostly steer calves to the creek pasture on Friday. The grass there hasn't been touched this year. They will stay there till the end of October. Early in the journey. My view for the next 4 hours. Average travel speed on my trusty stead for the day. My phone...

    NH 664 / 688 Question

Alright, I need a little help now. I think I have a bearing holder ( or a muffler bearing, not sure which one ) that is wore out on one of the rollers in the middle of the baler that keeps the tension on the bale and sets the core pressure. My question is, how can I get to the end of that roller...

Can Pink Eye Cause Bull Infertility?

Does anybody know more about this? If the pink eye is a result of IBR or BVD complex I could understand, but if it is just conjunctivitis caused by a bacteria, do you think it would cause temporary infertility in a bull?
