R-CALF USA meeting for live cattle producers only

Here is what Steve Dittmer wrote: Bully Bill Is R-CALF really the free and democratic, open-to- scrutiny, grassroots organization it claims? Does R-CALF firmly hold its positions and invite contrasting points of view to debate the issues? Bill Bullard and a pair of security guards said...

    Ranchers Beef

In this argument of "Did R-Calf do anything to hurt Canadians?" I think back to when R-Calf was started. I believe it was started because they were concerned about Canadian imports. Their first lawsuit was to restrict imports from Canada....wouldn't that be hurtful to Canadians?.....Just a thought.

    Kenny Fox response to SH

SH: Thanks for the good reply to Kenny. I come from a brand state and you both make good arguments about using brands for traceback. We have proven that by using only brands we can trace an individual animal to the seller in 48 hours. We got a statement included in the USAIO guidelines that...

    R-Calf Convention

A committee is being formed that deals with property rights? I thought that R-Calf's bylaws stated that they would focus only on trade and marketing issues. Is or was there a change to R-Calf's bylaws? Or maybe they are just going to say that propery rights affect trade and markets? Another...

    What is happening to NCBA?

Just had to weigh in on this. First of all NCBA did not spend millions on the database company. The only money they spent on this whole thing was to put together meetings. The reason that NCBA won't make money on the ID database is because as soon as it gets going (and that will be early in...

When meat packers own their own cattle

OT: If someone came and offered my neighbor a premium for their cattle over mine I would try to find out how I could improve my cattle to get that premium also. As far as vertical integration goes my train of thought on that is that I haven't been convinced as of yet that the beef industry can...

When meat packers own their own cattle

Back to the original thought on this topic..... :!: Do we or do we not still live in the U.S. where we should be free to make decisions based on what we belive will be to our personal benefit? In other words if I want to sell my cattle on a grid and receive a premium for them because I know...

OT mis-information re. Beef Checkoff Refuted

The reason the checkoff can't fund an ad that attacks another commidity is because the Sec. of Ag, who must approve all funding requests, wouldn't allow it. There was an ad proposed that said "There's no such thing as a chicken knife." that was not allowed.

OT mis-information re. Beef Checkoff Refuted

Just a couple of questions for those who are arguing the Checkoff....How many have read the act and order that formed the Checkoff and that the Beef Board must follow in implementing all its decisions? Are you basing your discussions on actual facts or talking from what someone else has written...

    R-CALF Stand

Here's an interesting read to compare with Bill Bullard's editorial. Notice I didn't say R-Calf? I think Bill is running amuck. 1. NMA Asks Ninth Circuit To Overturn Preliminary Injunction CattleNetwork.com April 5, 2005 Oakland, CA NMA filed its reply brief today with the Ninth Circuit...

Are we looking in the right direction?

rancher: So explain to me why beef is selling for record amounts with record amounts of imported beef and beef production in this country is the highest amount ever per cow if demand hasn't increased. I'll take an increase in demand, even if it's not 20% (which I still believe it is) any day...

Are we looking in the right direction?

SH: do you own a retail outlet? The retailers could price beef out of reach of consumers and then they'll bypass the beef counter and go to the chi**** counter. I don't begrudge anybody a profit but, greed can kill ya! Rancher: "where's the beef" with the checkoff. It is in the law that...

Are we looking in the right direction?

Oldtimer says: rancher- Its the NCBA way of thinking-if you wait long enough some of your conclusions will finally be right ....Like the 20 years they told us how much we would be making with all the expanded world trade... Then the two years out of twenty that prices were up were because of...

    Who's looking out for producers?

Thanks Tim H for posting the article that was in the Minot Daily news by Marvin Baker. SH did you see it? Maybe it's time to quit fighting and try to find what's best for our industry. In USDA's proposed rules they may have given us a good start (whether they knew it or not). The rules require...

    Who's looking out for producers?

Here's something that I came across recently. A marketing club wanted to get the facts on R-Calf's positions on issues so they contacted the national office in Billings and asked if they would send someone to their meeting so they could get the facts (straight from the horse's mouth). R-Calf...

Are we looking in the right direction?

Here's an interesting read. Now that the packers have been taken to task we need to look at a new target so we can divert focus from a lack of marketing capacity by many producers who are blindly being led around by an organization that is trying to protect it's interests, namely the LMA who...
