I know how you feel Soapweed. McIntosh ranch sold southwest of Chambers today, 2,359 acres @ $1662/acre average, same buyer took all 3 tracts. We bordered on two sides, but for Sandhills pasture/meadow, that's hard to make pencil.
They are weighing right around 900-925 lbs. right now.
The #1 heifer was AI'd to Paramount Ambush 2172, the rest to Sinclair Extravagant 6X7 (Accelerated Genetics stud). We also used several proven Jorgensen calving ease sires.
Thank you for the comments. The heifers are all Jorgensen and...
Had a few minutes on Sunday to snap some pictures of the replacements. The first three are registered Angus and the last one is a commercial. The first one is my favorite...and from there it's a tossup. We just got through AI'ing them and are glad to have them out to grass for the summer.
Glad you posted a picture---I don't post here much either but it's been interesting to see the face behind the usernames.
Hope calving continues to go well---we are just getting a good start on our heifers--so far so good.
Good looking coyote you have there. We have mange real bad in our area and have had for quite a time now---saw another one just today with only a little hair on his shoulders and that was it. Can't help but feel sorry for them. Thanks for the pictures.
ACS--there has been a lot of wisdom posted on this thread. I hope you have taken the time to read each post thoroughly.
I'm not a lot older than you, 21 years old and a recent college graduate in May 2006. The peer pressure to drink has been something I have dealt with since junior high...
Welcome to ranchers.net Bart. Patience is definitely a virtue so hang in there. Sounds like you have some good goals--best of luck in your new venture. Ranching sure won't make you the richest man in the world, but the lifestyle is worth alot more than all that money anyhow.
