    Farm Accidents-- You Never Know!

Im sure when I get the bill it better be gold plated. Now I know why a cow flinches when you block her for a c-section. I wanted to get up and finish the job but my wife was worried about the two inch diameter pipe indentation across the forhead. My daughter said I was still cussing when I hit...

    Farm Accidents-- You Never Know!

Three day's ago the rescue unit hauled me to town. We where vacinating cows when one kicked the swing gate hitting me in the head. Luckily all they had to do is stitch me up. It only takes a split second to get in trouble so be careful.

Thanks for all the Info. After getting the bid of 2000 dollars just for the electrical service we are sticking with propane. I guess I should have been an electrical contracter .

    electric vs. propane

Just need to pick a few brains on peoples opinions on electric vs. propane. Currently have a propane furnace in our house...and has gone belly up 19 days ago, long story. Waited many days for service tech to give us good answers, and just quit putting parts on the old carcass. We finally...

    Dectomax

It's not a good practice to use the same product year after year. Weather it's weed chemical or cattle pour ons. Mix it up and you aliviate the chances of resistance building up.

    How's the weather?

Went to a bull sale today and while waiting to load out talked to a gentleman from Wyoming. He had talked to someone in the 60 plus inches area that had already counted 100 dead calves.

    Anybody tried this?

Make sure you have it tested for nitrate. Have heard of some nightmares on stressed kocha for hay but I guess anything that is stressed should be tested.

The least liked job on your place is ?

I would have to say testing bulls usally followed by rebuilding fence. Those bulls we carry around in the tank never seem to give us much trouble and only have to be fed once every three months.

    Saddletromped

We all need to be careful out there this time of year. Today I didn't take the time to tie a leg back while restocking our colosturm supply. Now I sit here with a crooked finger that I can't bend. Luckily it didn't affect my typing skills as it wasn't my index finger.

The way it's supposed to be.

Just got in from checking about four inches on the ground.IT's so fluffy if you sneeze you'd start a ground blizzard. At least the sled that we pull calves in on sure pulls easily.

Since we own only enough grass to run our own yearling heifers the pairs are all put out to grass by the month. We calve the end of February so it is done by the time we start farming. It costs more to feed the cowspost calving but we still pay the...

How to find a good ranch hand??

Hey, best of luck, a good "hand" is hard to find. Thats why the husband just keeps me around, he knows I can't quit. ( he will really be upset when he sees that I posted on two of the things.......) Good "perks" always seem to draw people off of other jobs that don't have any added benefits...
