    Bred cow prices?

Yes, it was quite the sale. I sat at a dispersal the next saturday and watched some nice 2nd, 3rd, and 4th calvers go from about $2450 to $2200.

    Annual bull buying pilgrimage

We ran a Connealy Thunder Bull that we purchased from some fellow contributors on here last spring, so I had better be nice, hey CA.  I will be able to tell you in a couple weeks how he calves because he bred all our heifers and a couple cows. I am really happy with how he...

Canada ready to retaliate about COOL

I think the Goat Ranching was taking care of that for you already there H. Hahahaha.....   Just nice to know that there is still a little sympathy south of the border for us Canuckleheads. I don't think the fact that there are slaughter plants closing in the US is a good...

1100 lbs cows vs 1400 lbs cow

We typically wean and sell right around the 205 days. Average calving date of April 10 and sell last week October or first week of November. The last 2 years my steers average 600lbs on the nose. That would give me about 2.4 to 2.5 lbs per day with a 100lb birth weight. I think that with the...

1100 lbs cows vs 1400 lbs cow

These are all some excellent points. I don't pretend to have any 1100lb cows, although there is probably a group in our herd that is on the lighter end of 1200. Lots around 1350 to 1450 though. One other thing to look at is how we raise our replacement heifers. I am a firm believer in letting...

    Another Sale Catalogue

Was quite happy to get one. Now I can say I'm officially done herd sire shopping for the year. I know they kind of people you guys are and what you did for us last summer. I also know how the bulls are developed and how the one we ran last summer turned out. Makes me quite anxious to see this...

    Ear Tags

We run all commercial and this is our system Sire down the side, calf number with year letter on top, and big number is for the Dam to make sorting easier. Blue are my dads, green are mine. If we keep a heifer as a replacement, she gets top number.

    Peak Dot Bull Sale

The ones I would like to see are the little older bloodline ones, off of SAV Eliminator, who goes back to R R Rito 707. Yes Justin, they do use alot of SAV breeding. Just curious if its worth the drive.

    Calving 2013

It looks like you made it through alright. I heard it was nasty down south. We actually never got anything other than a little wind north of North Sask River. Thank heaven because we have had enough this winter.

    1st calf heifer

Your more than welcome to come at anytime. Only problem might be getting past BMR's place unnoticed. We might never see you again if you get tangled up with him. :help: :cowboy:

    1st calf heifer

I think it would only be fair to give that heifer what she actually wants, to wonder around on the beautiful Canadian prairies. :???: I would gladly rescue her from a life long sentence of the high desert.   She looks great and so does the calf. Thats my type of cow. She...

    Crazy Bull

I sure hope your wife reads this and then you can post some great pictures of skin changing colour.  As for the bull, I have never had a bull do this, but we have had a couple cows that were over aggressive with their own calf, the worst being a couple years ago. She got put in...

almost going to enter my 4th year of raising beef

Everything looks good there RA. You definitely have a knack with that camera. As for the tractor, I had one just like it that I borrowed from my son a couple winters ago. Stupid thing ( and remember, I am a John Deere Guy ) never even made the first winter. Battery was worthless, had to go back...

    Skid steer question.

That is very good. Reminds me of a trick I pulled on my wife, girlfriend at the time, when we were on our way home from town one evening. We were in separate vehicles and I turned down a dirt road. It was dark out but there was a full moon. I started driving faster and she couldn't see...
