    Cows from canada

Tyler bought them at their sale for the Waldorf Ranch then we both went down and calved them when his cow boss drug up. We calved a hundred and some hfrs out on grass and it went really well-the Waldorf has some great fields for late spring calving enough bush for shelter and to spread cattle...

    Bull Reports

There is some down here because they sell a little bit every year-I have a gut feeling my U'S semen got sold into South America in one big volume deal-they are real shysters.

    Bull Reports

Sic' Em Genex supposedly lost all my U'S semen in a dry tank at the border but can't furnish any proof-packing slips etc. I still get commission cheques from them so they do have semen left down there somewhere-I'd just phone reps-I think nicky tracked some down last year. I have 700 units up...

    Bull Reports

I just call them as i see them and i see alot of bulls every spring-if you run in abrasive soils you can probably be a bit more lenient. When we have the ways and means to select and purchase seedstock with vg feet, udders etc why should there be any compromising. That is much like the fallacy...

    Bull Reports

Aron that bull isn't the only good one in that string-i spent a good hour on the website last night there are alot of good uddered cows behind those bulls too. If you need something bid on Ty or I can go do that for you. River rat I owned a bull with Murray Fraser one time that we drew for...

    Bull Reports

It really doesn't matter what you spend as long as the bull is worth the money-we collect any bull we feel has potential so he can be amortized out over a few hundred calves. A'I is pretty darn cost effective if you are set up for it-most times if you can control the water source you can A'I in...

    Ty's Heifers

Thank You for giving Ty the opportunity to purchase them-he's starting out with a better set of cattle than I did for sure. They are in just the rig we like-they'll be slick and shiny by August when we go to breed them.

    Calf Prices

Id gamble on a breeding female before I would a $1200 grass steeer-steers have a shelf life while a female can be amortized while you work through a market correction. It is definately a scary but exciting time to be in the cow business for sure-it still beats changing cultivator shovels lol.

Photos of some of our 2012 sale bulls

we used to get alot of straight black calves off red bulls on smokey cows-Charolais/Angus smokes. What was even more surprising was the rattail smokes I got off the ABS horned hereford bull Titan 7777-think mebbe we had a simmi in the woodpile lol.

Good set of bulls-I find red angus to be a universal solvent you take a mix n match set of cows and run a couple sets of red angus bulls and you'll end up with a pretty even set of mother cows. A few hundred hereford or fleckvieh cows with those kind of bulls and you'd be in tall cotton.

Heifers will be at the Rapid City Stock Show

I went out to High Plains with Dr. John Ismay from sturgis when I was down there selling bulls I'd hang out around the vet clinic. John is quite the character everytime I got introduced me he made up a new proffession for me-I was Canada's biggest Norwegian Fjord breeder, a horse chiropracter...

Heifers will be at the Rapid City Stock Show

It can be hard to find groups of half brothers sometimes alot of bull pens feature a dog from every town. I'll never forget Wayne Stevenson showing me a pasture with 150 Rainmaker 340 daughters in it-I was star struck lol. Jorgenson's have run a successful program for years but they have a...

Heifers will be at the Rapid City Stock Show

You really get an idea of a bulls inherent fertility by collecting them-do you use the stud at Piedmont? A bull that collects 8-900 straws a jump doesn't run up too big a hotel bill at the stud-they just love the fatties they have to bring them down a bit then back up so semen will freeze. Alot...

Heifers will be at the Rapid City Stock Show

Back in my Genex rep days the Lindskov-Thiel buls we leased both Angus and Charolais brought us the most satisfaction and the least customer complaints. I have never been there but they look to me like they run pretty practical cattle. My one head sample of SAV cattle-I had a Pioneer son that I...
