Holy Cow! Got 1-1/2 inches rain in 20 min on Friday evening, and another .7 inches during the night and into Saturday morning. We've had similar downpours in the past but not with the runoff like this in our 16 years of being here. Maybe this was the one in 100 years?? We didn't know the extent of the runoff until we took a trip through the ranch today  Anyone else in MT have to share your experiences this past week with the downpours???

Looks like we have fence to fix :(

Pond in the big Hay Meadow, was almost dry before this hit:

This pond has never had water the entire 16 years we've been here...it must be close to 30' deep

I've never seen water here, either

We (had) corrals at the W end of the ranch...not any more

Assessing damage to hay we had piled up at the corrals:

Man it's crazy what water and a few hill can do. We had 14 inches of rain in two days from a gulf storm one year and we didn't get anything like that. You got your hands full for a few days now.

one thing is for certain, at least around here.....moisture is never free! one way or another we always seem to pay for it. good luck with the clean up, looks like you got all ya want.

Ooooohhh boy, although you could probably use the rain, it sure would have been nicer if it had come a little slower. It looks like it has made a lot of work for you. Good luck in your clean up and fence fixing.

Man, what a mess. We once had 4" in an hour, looked about like that. You will discover wood and strange weeds and things you will be surprised with for years. Hope your hay is OK.

Thank GOD this all happened during the night. If this had happened during the day I would have been terrified because I would have wanted to go out to assess the damage. Just imagining the amounts of runoff and the levels of water in some places.....YIKES

It's funny you said that. In the last river over flow we got some kind of grass that we have never seen before. Plus we always gain more fire ants.

Yea it looks a little damp.

Any sign of Noah?

Gee thanks, BMR, wanna help us get things back in shape? We start calving heifers in a week, and still have hay to put up. Would love your company :D

Would love to come help but we also are trying to get somethings done up before I lose my help the end of August. :(

Haha welcome to our world.......(that wasn't meant to be funny)

Happens to us all the time, on normal years when we have our normal average rain, We have fences that look like that ever time it rains. Cleanup's never fun.

Hanto had a slow moving thunder storm roll through here that left similar damage south, south west of us. Those guys got 2" to 3" of rain in the matter of 30-45 minutes.
Lot of fence damage and crop loss.
Some pretty nasty storms lately.

hope things get better for you.

Oh no.....it's always something. Sorry to see that.

On the other hand, I can't see any grasshoppers. They are getting real bad in some parts. Hope next year's hatch gets a disease. :x

Sorry to see all that devastation, Hanta Yo and sw. We had a similar storm come through here on July 25, 2001. Even with horrendous winds making the downpour rain and hail come in sideways, the guage still registered three inches when it was over. The storm lasted for an even hour. It was a terrible deal at the time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you as you try to get things back to some semblance of normalcy. Keep your chins up; this too, shall pass. :-)

Ohhhh, we have those too, Cal and we have them BAD. They are eating everything up. I'll post some pics. :x

When that little canuck bronc rider stops in to visit don't be afraid to put him to work. Tell him I said it's because of his sugarbelly. Scott can quit letting the tank run over to make elk wallows at least.

Hahaha NR, we've moved the cows over the ridge (well, almost all of them, well like maybe half of them) so they aren't fighting over one tank, they can drink from ponds :D
