What a way for 2010 to end !!!
Yesterdays 35 degree temps and 50 mph winds put such a crust on the foot or more snow (besides blowing some pretty hard drifts) that feeding in the hay meadows is about done except with a 4X4 tractor..

And now they are predicting another foot to foot and half of snow in some areas on top of that (over 2 feet for the higher elevations)-- and temps for Thursday and New Years Eve to range down in the 20-25 Below range...

All I want for the New Year is some nice weather...

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING
THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.

* MAIN IMPACT: HEAVY SNOW...WITH 7 TO 14 INCHES OF ACCUMULATION...IS
POSSIBLE.

* TIMING: SNOW SHOULD BEGIN LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING...CONTINUE
WEDNESDAY NIGHT...AND BEGIN TO TAPER OFF LATE THURSDAY MORNING.

* OTHER IMPACTS: STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 GUSTING TO 40
MILES PER HOUR ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM.
THIS COULD RESULT
IN BLOWING SNOW WITH REDUCED VISIBILITY TO LESS THAN A HALF A
MILE AT TIMES. WINDS CHILLS COULD REACH 20 TO 35 BELOW WEDNESDAY
NIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING...MAINLY NORTH OF THE MISSOURI RIVER.

I can't believe how steady our nice winter weather has been here. It gets up to the -15 to -18C every day like clockwork, and no wind to speak of. If I would get with the programme I'd post some pics of something most folks from the prairies seldom get to see.... snow stacked up on the fence posts 8" high. It could stay just like this until mid march and I'd be a happy camper. I just hope it doesn't get warm enough to put a crust on the snow, but I see the forecast is to get close to melting for the weekend. I hope they're wrong.

This is what the weather looks like here today...
Snow-25 mph winds- temp at 15 now and dropping...Supposed
to be 20-25 Below by tomorrow night...

Some cows are still out picking at the hay-

But many decided when they came in for water- they'd just find a good windbreak!!

This little heifer is thinking this reminds her of the -20 degree day she was born...
The reason she has no ears and only half a tail...
This is that first Bannon 730T daughter that I had pictures of
a couple of years ago.. This one is such a big pet- she is almost a pest...

What a difference a few miles makes, their only forecasting 3-5" of snow here and -15 tomorrow night. The wind is going to make it nasty enough to be out.

They just issued a Blizzard Warning for up here thru 11AM tomorrow... We've already gotten 4-5 inches... Looks like the heaviest snow is going just north of the Missouri...Most of the Highways are now emergency travel only....

About all we can do is hibernate- and see what we have in the morning..

We're an the edge of the Blizzard warning so we're not going to get quite as much as you will. My cows have pretty much all found shelter to get into and are just going to wait it out. I got them fed so they would have a full belly when this get bad.

the cameron breeze is howling out of the north here with the temp dropping fast and visibility about a hundred yards. Lord have pity on the stock

That white stuff will come in mighty handy this spring, but not a good thing now,I dont see how yall operate in that kinda weather.
good luck

It's supposed to snow a foot or so, and wind chills down around 35 below. I've got the cattle full and situated the best I can, so we'll see what happens next.

yesterday at this time it was beautiful, in the 30s with no wind. today lots of wind and -25 windchill. the next few days are gonna be chilly :(

Got around a foot here and it is still snowing lightly.

Had a couple of Corgis get stuck in some drifts this morning.

if they are like our corgi, they loved every minute of it. :D

They did Justin. All you could see was their heads.

we are down to one female now and shes gettin some age one her, but when she was younger-her and her half brother would head out and find the biggest drift there was and dive in head first. the deeper the snow, the happier they were. :)

We are about the same...At least the wind went down and its stopped drifting.....County plow came by this morning and it looked like they were blowing thru some pretty good drifts....Sure was glad to see them as I'm supposed to go to town this afternoon for the Judges end of the year swearing in of all the county officials-- and wasn't sure I could make it thru...

Temp is dropping- 0 here now-- and predictions of 15-25 Below tonight (weather boys ain't too sure how low it will go  )...
