Sure would be nice to see a few of those around our way. Seems as of late, that the good old dependable 'D's (1994) we have, decided that this was the year to pack it in. One is currently raising the poorest of the fall calves, one aborted and the other just came up open. 3 real good cows (ugly as sin, but dependable) that bred back the same time every year, and dropped average to above average calves...definately the best money makers in our commercial herd.
We had the first calf off a heifer on Feb 25th, one yesterday that died, and now we are waiting (and hoping) that the next one in line will have a little more spunk as it is off one of the younger, real good cows. Just a few early ones. Another week and we will be right into the thick of things.
