About lost a calf today

Heck aplus I've seen kola's beloved EXT's kill their own calves without any help from a mule. I know one thing I'll have a jackass in the pasture before one of them-I'd have a soulmate then too lol.

Well...if you made a road trip to GA....and YOU DIDN'T CALL ME????!!!!!! :( :( , and saw an EXT kill a calf.....you were not at my place baby!!!!

Now mine might accidentally step on your foot or get a little snot on your jacket cause they're thinking you got a range cube in your pocket....

Well, a little background, they dislike each other. A little more background, Kola'll start something just for the fun of starting it. :D Now kolo, I'm simply relaying the facts so that HP can get an idea of the situation here.

If you don't ' grow' out that snotty attitude....someone will eventually beat it out of you..........

Mind your own business......

Yes ma'am.

Kid, the only women you have to listen to and mind are your mother, your wife, or your daughters. Unless a woman signs your paycheck...then you should listen to and mind her as well. Pay no attention to the rest.

NEVER....NEVER put a gelding out with some broodmares, especially if they are about to foal. They will kill a newborn colt faster than a mule will kill a calf.

You're not kidding.

Cows that you can handle and see more --or better they let you see them and not run off and hide---than every 6 months bring a WHOLE LOT more $$$$$$ than those wild arse cattle.

Makes life a lot easier and medical bills/repair bills less also.

I don't know but I would'nt want 200 cows looking for a range cube in my pocket. That may require a doctor bill after being mugged by a mob.

LOOOMIX.....we've ran geldings and broodmares together for 30 yrs, gregs, brother raises Appys, runs his geldings with his mares, and I have no clue how many yrs gregs dad ran mares and geldings together,NEVER lost a foal to a gelding :?

Well, my Dad and Granddad started raising Appaloosas in the early 50's. At the peak, my Dad had over 140 head.

Maybe that saddlehorse that killed the colt was related to Charles Starkweather?

Anyway, that was the first and LAST time we had a gelding with any broodmares.

Your results may vary. :-)

Well goggling Charles Starkweather made for a pleasant morning read, thx Loomix.....

I have to admit gregs brother had a crazy stud, killed a foal and almost him,he ended that with a bullet. Studs are a different story though then normally a gelding is.

We run all our horses with our cattle all the time-I think you get less behavorial troubles when it isn't a novelty to be together. I've seen it happen at other places though where a horse has killed a foal. We even run our bucking horse geldings out with the studs and mares-it hasn't caused a problem as yet.

We had a pasture we called the stud pasture. At any given time, there were 20-35 head of yearling to aged studs in there. They would rough house occasionally, but it never got so bad we had to bring anything home. Without the girls around, there just wasn't too much for them to fight over. The studs who were used heavily either were out in the pasture with their mares year round, or were brought home and all kept separate.
