I have been traveling for the past couple of weeks. In Canada, there is a fast-food outlet called ACME BURGER. They feature Certified Angus Beef and put out one heck of a tasty burger. Along with it they give this information on a piece of paper:

Q.What is the Certified Angus Beef Brand?
A. The best beef available. Only 8% of beef qualifies.

Q. Are all Angus brands the same?
A. NO! The Certified Angus Beef Brand is the original and best Angus brand.

*Our specifications are so strict than only 1 in 5 Angus influenced cattle earn The Certified Angus Beef Brand name. The 4 that do not meet our specifications may be marketed under another Angus label.

*The Certified Angus Beef Brand is the only Angus Brand endorses and montiored by the American Angus Association's 35,000 cattle ranchers.

Q. What makes it great?
A. 8 stringent specifications with marbling being the most important.
Marbling gives beef it's juiciness, tenderness and flavor,

Q. Does it cost more?
A. For a slight premium in price, there is a huge difference in taste.

Here at Acme Burger we invite you to experience the finest burger anywhere in the world. That's our promise!

Thats great!!! Thats what I would hope for from CAB beef and USA beef !!!The CAB has been the best marketing promotion on beef to date-- and has been great for the angus breed...

Now if they would have had an M-COOL in place to help market it- so US consumers would have had a chance to buy Born, Raised and Slaughtered in the USA CAB BEEF- we could have increased demand and sales even more...

I'm thoroughly convinced that by the politicians and AMI/NCBA folks fighting the M-COOL law we missed some of the biggest marketing periods we could have had for USA beef--Post 9/11 when everyone was bubbling over with patriotism- and trying to help the country recover by avoiding foreign foods (remember boycotting french fries and french wines) and trying to buy US product-- and then now- post Canadian BSE with the Canadians still finding infected cows- and the Chinese tainted pet food and imports scare still fresh in everyones minds...

Now we have our President handing out checks to "stimulate" the economy and the Secretary of the Treasury saying "take that money and buy something made in the USA to help the economy"-- and you can't even take your wife out to dinner and order a Product of USA T Bone steak with it- because this administration and this USDA have backed the multinational corporate Packers profiteering by deception and fraud and failed to implement the M-COOL law that was passed in 2002.......

Folks want the ability of choice- and its time we give it to them....Many in Canada are seeing this now- as evidenced by several of the posts on the Bull Sessions...As I used to tell kids that were in trouble when they asked what to do-- "the truth gets you a lot further than deception"......

The name sounds like someplace Wile E. Coyote would eat when he can't catch the Roadrunner! :o   :-) :D :-)

OT, there is verified USA produced beef being sold at retail in in restaurants. It is due to a combination of producer pride in their product, and "consumer driven marketing". What's more, they didn't need MCOOL to do it!

Just think how much more USA produced beef could be sold if everyone had access to it- and not just those in certain areas or that have certain distributors ....If You Build It, They Will Come
