To be registered a Paint has to either have Quarter horse or TB breeding. I always giggle when Quarter horse lovers complain about Paints being a bad ride or whatever, anyone who looks at Paint papers see the quarter horse or TB breeding in them.Paints are a breed NOT a colour like pintos areJulie said:I grew up with a genetic aversion to paints and appaloosa--- genetic in that my entire family of quarter horse raisin', training, cutting and ranching uncles and dad gave them a major thumbs down --
All jokes were about paints and apps and most the time, the horses lived up to the jokes.
There have been some real genetic improvements the color line --someone got smart and bred some good QH blood into color and at some point, things turned --
There are parts of the country around here that'll still get you razzed out of the brandin' pen if you show on a paint -- and some that show up just to show ya they can
I've still not ever owned either -- but don't have any particular aversion --
well okay, probably won't own an app in my lifetime.
But like most things in life, I've learned...pretty is as pretty does![]()
LOL...good oneJulie said:I'm sure that is true but -- but they are mixing the "paint" better than they used to![]()
Ya that was allowed a few years ago...Greg and I both voted against it...we felt a Paint needed the colour but so many were breeding and getting solids so they had a huge voice obviously and got the breeding stock thing passed :?IL Rancher said:NOt to mention all those Breeding stock paints out there that don't have a speck of white on them or maybe just a mark on their face.. I ride a bay everyonce in a while that is a breeding stock Paint (Gelding mind you but for registration sake) without a speck of white on him.. Smooth riding horse but a bit slighter built than I would like..
