We're picking up a yearling QH rescue tonight, apparently he's got a fused hock/arthritis.
Has anyone seen one of these before? Apparently he's had x-rays, and his original owner was going to put him down. Temp. owner says he's not lame, runs around just fine.
Just wondered if any of you have had one of these, what's the prognosis on him being useable in the future, or is he going to be a lawn mower?

I'll post more details after I get him home tonight, and I learn more. Was just asked to come get him, so they have room for their New Fresian....
(I know, shut up and be polite, say bad words after I'm out of their driveway!)

I have so little experience with horses that I can add next to nothing.. We have a lawn ornament horse at the moment. I think.. stress think, that she might be ridable once a week, maybe twice but that is max because of bone chips in her hocks.. We had x-rays and everything taken and it was managable with some antinflam and some supplements.. She is crazy out in pasture running around but I do not ride her. This horse.. uhm.. dislikes me a bit.. And only me which I find strange. I'm the one who feeds her, brings her water and stuff.. I am also the one that takes her sheep away and I think she resents me for it, lol...

Wish I could be more help to you.. sorry.
