My 01 550 is at 360,000 km and is starting to act tired. I don't care for the current engines in either Ford or Dodge and Chev suspensions are to light for hard use.
Still would like a baby Freightliner or Sterling, if this economy doesn't turn around soon I may be able to afford a slightly used one.

The Sterling line is is being discontinued. They looked like good trucks to me.

PS anyone got a pic of one ?

They are good trucks Cedarcreek. Our feed dealer has had one with a Mercedes engine for 10 years with virtually no major problems, last he told me it was nearing 500,000 Km (300,000) miles.
It doesn't make a person want to buy one if they are only guaranteeing parts and service for 7 years.

I believe I will keep hunting premium used 7.3L Fords. You can find some really nice, clean, low milers for under $17,000, and thats about the best motor ever put in a pickup. The one I've got is at almost 200,000Kms (120,000 miles) and it is just feeling broke in. I'd like to think with reasonable maintainace I should get another 250,000 kms pretty easy.
Im not about to spend the kind of money it takes to land a new one just to cart my butt around. If my truck earned a paycheck I would consider it, but not until then. Especially considering the mileage they get.
Buying a new vehicle is the worst thing a person can do with their money. I wonder how many people would put 50K on the stock market knowing it would lose 15% the first day?
There, I've had my rant

my 95 cummins has 520000 miles on it. original motor with a little work done and its 3rd tranny.

my 09 has 20K miles on it and i love it.

Hay Maker- you could get about 26K bucks for that truck if you sold it. i had an 07.5 2500 and got the stealership to give me 27K for it.

Dealer said they would allow 23.5K and sale me the 09 for 22.5K differnce, was thinkin about it till I read this post and see the 2010 pic, good lookin truck.

i wouldn't call myself a dodge fan, but i do like the looks of the 3500 crew cab dually. i plan on owning one around......2020 :? much better looking outfit than those horrible looking short box mega cabs.

the people we work for in washington take the money we made for them and bail out auto companys, then the auto companys turn around and sell us a vehicle for 3 prices. makes sense to me

I'd stay away from the dodge my dad bought a brand new o8 it has 24000 miles on it the water pump has gone out already it has had three recalls one on the front end and i forget the other 2. the seat had to be replaced twice . he has spent more time driving my 91 gmc 1/2 ton ranch truck with 240,000 miles on it and it is a gas motor. he wishes he had is 01 durmax back. my 01 chevy 3500, with 118,000 has to do most of the towing because the dodge has aspot reserved in the shop.

I sure hope they had improved them more that just the looks.
My 2007 3500 Dodge had been in the shop 14 times from July 07 to Dec 08. It had low miles when I sold it becuase it was setting in the dealership shop while I was driving my old 3/4 ton Chevy that I thought was wore out. Bye Bye Dodge as I sold it to someone far from home in March of this year.

We have an '06 Dodge diesel 1-ton dually 4x4 with close to 60,000 miles on it and most of those were PULLING a trailer--lots of times with 5-7 ton
of mineral loaded in the trailer and it's been great. Mr. FH looked at
trading for an '09, but we heard the fuel mileage was terrible, so he
just kept this one as he likes it so much. The fellow that bought our cows took his Ford to a place in Dickinson, ND and they took the emission stuff
off it and he gets 27 mpg now. (Thought I'd throw that in--) :D

He really
PIMPS  :P    his ride!!!
