No snow on the tires. Don't tell me he cleaned them off before taking the picture  Why dontcha bring me a ton of Western Breeder? I'm suppose to have it coming this week from Tony.

Kinda funny seeing some of you folks entertaining the idea of having anything to do with a chev or a dodge after some of the statements made a while back concerning government bailouts and such

Atta boy! :D

I don't have the same requirements as most posting, but I sort'a still like my 86 Ford, (never bailed out), seldom pulled out. The ol' 460 will mileage with most diesels pulling the weight, and last time I bought fuel there was a little discount for E-10 compared to diesel fuel. I already am prepared to defend the mileage statement, but how new of a diesel powered unit will whip 7.4 mpg at 26.000# plus mile in, mile out... My $4000 460 won't quite make that, with the deductions for 15-W40 and power steering fluid figured in, but when I open the hood I recognize damn near everything that's under there. I realize there are bigger loads to move around, one name comes to mind and it doesen't quite rhyme with Red Oval... but that'll work.

I'm with you a good solid used pickup is all I need. I had a1987 F350 with a 460 it would pass everything but a gas station.

I've got 2, 59 ford truck shells enough to make a sweet looking truck plan is to put them on my 1984 3/4 6.9 diesel chassis should make a nice delivery rig I figure. The 6.9 has enough power to deliver empty trailers and gets in the high teens for milage empty.

I think the snow was too cold to stick to the tires...ever had it that
cold????????

Fess up FH. We all know he had you clean the truck up before you took the picture. Kind of payback for that 2 week vacation.

By the way it sure seems funny you can post a picture of his truck but none of the vacation. :? :? :?

Every time I click on something I just go do some dishes or sweep or check laundry, then come back to it. And yes, I'm telling the truth. The wife went Christmas shopping with her Mom in the city, so Bodi and Emma are keeping me company in the house so I don't get lonely. Actually, I think their Momma told them to make sure I was workin' on my honey-do list.

Almost forgot, we've got an '06 Ford crew cab dually. Best pulling truck I've ever had. Nice cab, no problems as of yet, only complaint is the mileage. We get 14 mpg empty at best, and when we pull anything it's 10-12.

Tried selling it for a while this spring/summer, thinking with the downsize in our cowherd we could get by with an older truck and put some cash in the bank. Well, nobody offered me what I wanted, so it's still here. If I could find a bale bed reasonable I'd maybe put one on and just make it a farm truck. Seems to be getting more scratches here and there despite my best efforts anyway.

It is my personal belief that Dodge has by far the best diesel trucks ever made. There's a reason big rigs use inline 6's and so does Dodge, the only problem I can see is the pollution control crap, there's a guy I know up here that hauls livestock for a living and had been hard core Ford/Chevy for many years. A few years ago he bought a 04 1 ton Dodge with the 5.9, took the pollution control crap off (straight pipe) and now gets about 25 mpg pulling a 30 some foot livestock trailer empty. Going straight down the highway he gets 28 mpg and now has around 300,000 miles on it. My Dad has an 04 dually (gets around 21-22 mpg) and we are very happy with it, it'll pull anything you hook it up to, but we mainly use it for pushing snow with a 9 1/2 ft V-plow. A Dodge with a Cummins in it is the most indestructible truck ever built in my opinion.

The fella who bought our cows told us a similar story about someone taking all the emission control stuff off his pickup and he gets over
28 mpg as well.

We drove Fords from 1967 to 1998, when we switched to Dodge Cummins Diesel...and felt like traitors...but since then we've had a 2002 and a 2006.
We really like the Dodge, have no reason to change brands. And Mr. FH pulls A LOT with it.

pure Country there's a 2007 one ton Dodge duallky for sale at Pincher Creek with a Dew Eze deck on it-my old 86 with a Hydra deck has trouble lifting bigger round bales-the yoke broke on a cylinder last night at dark. I tyhink I'm going to catch aup my three and four year old red roan mares and get a team going-never had horses and a bale sleigh leave me stranded-were only feeding three bales a day so not too much work for a young team.
