Thanks in advance.

.... hope spring has sprung for you all - winter certainly has it's teeth dug in here.

Yes they do, there is a big special on THE goat right now. It can be grass -fed or snow or hay or tin-can fed. It makes no difference what niche it fits, as long as it goes.

The point your missing is this folks......... While the goat may need to be gone, it CAME! And STAYED! That makes somebody a goat purveyor/owner/raiser/rancher/breeder/goat conglomeration heavy industry! Choose carefully, the men you decide to have as role models. My image of Gcreek is forever tarnished! :???:

I respect a guy that even though he knew he was going to be chastised, jumped on an opportunity. It is interesting that a former goat mogal is on the bandwagon beating this inocent goat guru into goat gumbo. That goat in the right back alley in a nearby city (Calgary or Vancouver) could turn a pretty profit providing it is facing the right way.

Actually I find it amazing that gcreek hasn't had goats long before this.
I thought years ago that he would be a natural.

Your two girls would really get along well with it.

There are ways old friend.

Welcome aboard, it's about time you quit lurking. If it took me getting a goat to bring you out of hiding I'm glad I got it. :D

Some photos of your feed outfit would interest most on here.

All I can say is don't be posting any pictures of your *&%$# goat... I'm still tramatized by kerens goat pictures..... Some where totally indescent even for a goat!!

Don't worry, if no photos are taken then there is no actual proof that there is a goat here.

SSAP, the best advice I can think of to give you is to have those grass fed finished steers shipped air freight packed in dry ice.

I've done this for several years with a guy who lives in Boston but has connections to this local area. I deliver the steer to the local locker plant and he pays me by the pound on the hoof for it. The guys butcher and process the steer to his specs. Then they pack it in boxes with dry ice and take it to the Rapid City airport and put it on a plane headed for Boston. I can't tell you what it costs but you could probably make local inquiry as to what it might cost.

My customer must be satisfied with his costs in our arrangement or he wouldn't keep doing it. He leaves a standing order for a black steer each year. This year the steer I kept for him turned out to be a runt and did not grow up like he should. So I substituted a Hereford with frozen ears that I had been keeping for myself.

My customer didn't ask so I didn't tell him he was getting a white face steer instead of a black one. I think once the steer is in the freezer it's hard to tell what color hair was on it.

I was so disgusted with the runt I sold him so now I don't have anything to butcher for myself.

I'll go back into hiding now. I just had to let people know that the surprising thing is not that you have a goat, but that you just got one. I also don't think it's fair to bring my daughters into this!

Oh come on, if your memory got jogged a little you would get a good start here.

Do you remember you and Debbie having a good laugh at my expense while you watched me tag that old one-eyed cow's calf on a sidehill at Dog Creek?

I do remember. It seems to me that there was a dog involved. I didn't think you'd still be mad about it. :)
