Well my van full of Roughies headed up to Lac La Biche this weekend-not very often we head north to a rodeo-it's beautiful country up there-just grass, lakes, bush and cows. Saturday was good-the boys entered a two head jackpot plus the regular rodeo. Ty got a bareback horse first and took the lead-then Jesse covered his first horse ever and rolled into second-the best was yet to come Landon got on his first bronc EVER and covered it to grab third. The novice horse riding was next-Ty got rolled into his hand and bucked off but Jesse covered another one and took the lead in it. Ty got on a horse in the open saddle bronc and was sitting second after Saturday. Sunday was good too-Ty covered his second jackpot horse to win it-everybody else bucked off so the Meadow Lake boys got to split $1,000. Jesse won a set of spurs for winning the Novice and Ty won a set for the jackpot. The next event was the Wild Ride-Austin pimped himself out and gathered up $500 in it. The horses were awesome-the contractor raised the barebackhorse of the NFR last year and he brought all his 3/4 year olds to town. The boys climbed on every turn out and exhibition they could -I think it was over 20 head for the weekend. Austin topped it off by doing a poem over the mic-it was a fun time in the Lac La Biche mud lol.

Good for the boys!!!!! :D You weren't too far from us again this weekend,we were in Ft. McMurray for the rescue competition.

Give Ty and Austin a high five for me and hopefully will see Landon ride if you make Hardisty.

Glad to hear things are going good. Haven't had time to post but I have been keeping up on the rodeo's. Hope you continue with the updates.

have a cold one

lazy ace

Nothing like the look on a kids face when he twists his first bronc-makes all the miles worth it. Mrs. greg Austin did his 'Montana Moonlight' poem over the mic at the rodeo lol.

Hopin all goes great with Ty's knee!!!!!!

Were pulling out of here on 7/16 and should be getting to Farmington on 7/18 or 19th. Were travelling with a goat tyer and her parents so our schedule will depend on how her pony travels. Just trying to figure out which route to take-I'm kind of an interstate hater myself.

Dont know anything about the facilities in Farmington, I have never been there. Our place is just south of the Colorado Border about 45 miles south of Raton. If you take I25 you will come right by but I think there are some shorter routes if you cut across the mountains in Colorado and come in by Durango and that way. We are about a 4 or 5 hour drive to Farmington from our place as you have to go almost all the way to Albquerque and then turn back to the northwest, there really isnt a good way to get to Farmington from anywhere.

Boy you live in some nice country-you don't need some elk thinned out this fall do you. I'm just hitching a ride this trip so it depends on the timies were travelling with. I'll run it by them though.

We have just a few elk that run in a big circle between us and some neighbors. We only get a few permits each year, we have more pronghorn antelopes than elk or deer. Might not have much hunting but I could sure have fun showing you some of the country side.
