Big And Rich In Deadwood

I'm not a big TV fan, but managed to catch the program on CMT with Big and Rich doing a TV concert in Deadwood. I didn't know much about them previous to this, but they are kind of like country music on steriods.

Deadwood sort of adopted these guys, and they adopted Deadwood at the same time. They played a lot of their earlier gigs there, and fell in love with the town, and area.

There was a song that they wrote about a man that is now a bartender in Deadwood, but was once in Vietnam, and had quite a story to tell. He was a paratrooper, and lost a lot of his comrades in a bad skermish. The song is probably called the Eighth Of November, and is quite good.

Anyhow, I would reccomend that you Deadwood buffs try and catch a re-broadcast of it if you can.

I went to a concert this past summer and had a great time. I don't mind there music. and I'd describe it exactly like you did TRJ they are country on steroids. I would rather go to a George Strait, Toby Keith or Trace Adkins concer though.

I also seen them at a country jamboree this summer,didn't impress me but the place filled up with young people and THEY loved them.... I was more impressed with Clay Walker :!:

My daughter said money from one of their albums was going to stop horse slaughter plants. Not only can't they sing but they are poorly informed.

I don't like to hear that they think that way either. I think stardom gets to their heads. Most stars would be better off if they stuck to what they are good at. I am always dissappointed it seems.

I did like what they did for Deadwood though.

I like Willy and Waylon. Merle Haggard, Tom T. Hall, Ian Tyson, Scott Joplin, Anne Murray, Tom Wopat, John Schneider, Metallica, Def Leppard, RW Hampton, The Rolling Stones, John Conley, Twisted Sister, Ratt, Motley Crew, Johnny Cash, etc.

In no particular order of course. :wink:

I bet that list hasn't been compiled before, and I missed a bunch.

Almost forgot my favorites Great White, and Kris Kristofferson. lol.

I liked Big n Rich's first album, enuff to buy it. but I watched the deal in deadwood on CMT and wasn't impressed at all with their latest music. Some of their stuff (I"m gonna sound like my mama) ya can't understand what they are sayin, and sounds like they loose their ability to carry a tune....even if they hadda bucket. Kinda like Kris kristofferson, he can't carry a tune either. Writes some great songs...but pleaseeeeeee Kris let someone else sing em. HEHE I just had to add that, my mother in law is a huge kris fan.

How about Martina McBride, Lita Ford, Barbara Mandrell, Sylvia, Juice Newton, and Sara Evans. You know there is not a huge number of female rockers that I can think of. I really do like hard rock music, (some of it), but I threw in some for shock value. :wink:

I do NOT like Hip Hop, or Rap music at all.

Alison Krauss is very easy listening though not sure what type music she'd be classified in. She does a beauty called "Prayer". Used it as background music for a DVD of all our garden flower pictures, and it is very peaceful to watch and listen to.
Quite different than the Deadwood on steroids group!

Allison Krauss is classified mostly as BlueGrass......I like the duet she done with Brad Paisley, but I dont care for most of her stuff, just simply because it's sooooo high pitched. I can't sang werth a hoot, but shore nuff can't sing along with her on the radio.......Gimme someone like Terry Clark, or JODee Mesina.....I can belt it out.....(keepin the winders rolled up the whole time of course)
