I went to a branding a few days ago and took some photos. Several of the people who visit ranchersnet were there.I thought they would enjoy seeing some of the pictures and others would too who visit here.

Glad IL got them fixed Tumbleweed. They turned out nice. Fun day and we got quite a little done and ALMOST solved all the worlds problems while discussing, at the break and dinner.

you were using capital IMg vs lower case... You had text inside your img and picture link, I think that is a no no.. I tried to clean it up but lost one of your captions.. Sorry about that.

Ok...got JB picked out...or rather his pony first!!!! Who else is in there?? Is that Santa Claus @ the branding fire????

IL Rancher thanks for the help with the photos. I added some text before I uploaded them when I sorted them off so maybe that's what happened. I have another photo here that I uploaded with out any text so I'll see what happens this time. The img is still capitalized.

Kola that isn't santa clause by the fire but he'd probably be a good substitute. He not only came to help he brought more beer and lunch meat to add to what was already provided!

Yup, I cut about half the calves and then helped rope the last half.

Tumbleweed is gettin' kind of old, so we let him rope most of the time.

Man! I can't wait until I get as old as you grampa! :D

To be fair to Tumbleweed, we had plenty of ground help who couldn't or wouldn't rope and we needed his expert roping ability, right where he was. :)

Is that a Nordfork they are using? I've never seen one in use, so if anyone has any closer up pics of one, kindly post them. Quite a few up here us a dead man on the front feet, but no one I know of uses the Nordfork.

Ok..I looked @ the pics again.

Where in the world did you old farts hide them walkers?

I can't see them in any of the pics.

I bet those tennis balls on the walkers really bog down in that grass.

DJL this is a photo from the branding I was at the day before. It shows the nordforks pretty well. You can't see all the handle but I think it is about twenty inches long. The fork is set on the calfs neck as they come by and held there until the ropes come tight. Then you roll them on there side if they haven't already. When you are ready to turn them loose the roper gives them a little slack to take the pressure off without letting go of there heels. The person running the fork grabs the handle and walks forward to take it off. You don't turn their heels loose until the nordfork is off. It's easy on and easy off.

Looks like ya had a good crew and a great day to get a branding done.. I always though it was a good thing to be the "old" one of the bunch...they always get the good jobs...

Never seen a contraption like that before...looks like it works slick...

Thanks
