I was watching the video sale today on RFD. They sold some bred heifers for $1850 delivered in Oct. and seemed to fall off after that. Was wondering what your thoughts were on the up coming year?
Anybody's guess with the drought. Looking alot cheaper than last year though on average. If you look on Superior's website and search bred hiefers on this sale alot were not sold. And there was a set of 4 to 12 year old cows from nebraska that brought 885 and looked like nice cows, but i would imagine they were the low producers from the herd. Just no grass or feed around these parts.
I n my neck of the woods, alot of heifers being bred this breeding season. IMHO this may be the year where the open ones will maybe be worth more than the bred ones. Im talking about the plainer and smaller heifers. Maybe the good ones too....
I'm hearing that if you have the feed available to hold on to any bred stuff you want to sell until closer to spring because if the moisture comes they will be worth a whole lot more... Just not many that have feed to winter them...
