I'm getting a little windy here but I wanted to share this little story... it is theraputic for me to get this stuff off my chest and talk about it and my wife and kids have been gone for close to a week.
In April, I sold a fella a virgin two year old bull and two yearling bulls with the condition that I deliver them June 20th and take payment on that day. A hand shake and the deal was done. This morning I phoned to make sure they would be around to deliver the bulls and they informed me that they wanted to back out.
I'm not that concerned on the yearlings cause I like to grow them out right and offer them as coming two's anyhow - but I was a little steamed about the two year old. I might get lucky on a late need for a bull, but I can't count on it and I might end up hauling him to town for canner on a dreary current market. I've always thought the best part of ranching is you get to make a living surrounded by farmers/ranchers and that business was done for the most part on a handshake - i think i might have to rethink that.
