The last week has been pretty busy for us. We weaned and pregged last Tuesday and Wednesday. Our test this year is by far the best our cows have ever done. Although the pairs we bought last July were 10% open and 10% late, on the whole herd it was 4% open and 3.5 % after 60 day calving period. We will keep the younger June calving cows and try to catch them up next year. According to the vet, we will be 85 % calved out during the first month in April.
Got the calves home from the new place today, 6 loads in our gooseneck during a snowy, blustery day. At least we can see them if and when they get sick on a steadier basis now.
Youngest son left for greener pastures. :(
Cull cows go to the sale on Wednesday.
Hopefully tommorow, I will have time to fix the wiring on the 7400 that quit me last Tuesday.
Still have to vaccinate and pour the calves.
Still out 3 pairs and a couple of bulls.

Glad we can look forward at something that needs done and still have the health and "youthful vigor" to get it done. :D

When I think of it I will get some photos.

Take care All,

gcreek

Just looked at the thermometer, -18 C. Guess we'll take the Draxxin bottle when we feed tommorow as the wetbacks from today will likely have the sniffles.

Keep it up there  Been beautiful down here- with temps in the 20's and 30's at night--40's and 50's in the day-- and today the wind didn't even blow so I could finish getting up the windbreak I've been working on...
Got calves gone- cows still out grazing summer/fall pasture- replacement heifer and bull calves weighed- and tomorrow supposed to bangs vaccinate if things work out for Doc.....
If it would stay like this till about New Years I'd be plumb happy... :D

......and then warm up.

You have been busy! Isn't it nice to get the fall work done? Impressive cow pregnancy rates to go along with your impressive heifer rates  :D . I look forward to seeing your pics.

Sounds like you've really been hard at it! Congrats on your test, it sure makes planning ahead easier with a good test doesn't it?
It's always a nice surprise around here when cattle come in you weren't expecting. The other day a bull we knew we were missing came in with a couple of pairs we didn't know were missing. Kinda like a little fall bonus

Good to hear your not getting into trouble and preg testing went well. My missing pairs have all come home. Something must be wrong with the cowboys here because there were a few in each paddock for every move since August. Oh well. :?
