For those of you who posted those lovely flowers, here is one of our
most proficient and drought hardy:

We have one of the portable sheds too. Actually we have two of them.
This one is in our heifer pasture.

New seeding in the foreground, newly swathed hay in the background.
(Hint: The swathed hay is pretty hard to see.)

The cheatgrass is really showing up now. We just couldn't get any decent amount of rain when we needed it. We had such a great start, too.
I'm glad others that needed rain are getting it.

What a beautiful flower!!! We have cactus here, but not many blooms on em to speak of. Mom usta make prickly pare jelly outta the "things it makes after they bloom" I have no idea what those things are called. Ours bloomed in west texas more orange than yellow. That one looks so delicate.....LOL you'd never guess the thorns that you can barely see underneath that grass.....

Good lookin grass, and hay. Hope you get some rain at just the right time after cuttin and balin. Always helps when it comes at just the right time.

Good lookin bull, but I hafta ask, why does he have sucha big hump on his neck? He's Angus isn't he? I've seen some with a lil bit of a hump, but his is big.

Ever since I was a little kid I've always thought those ol cactus flowers were the prettiest thing... have a little horse pasture that was full of cactus- I should check it out and see if they're bloooming....

Good lookin country fasterhorses, post some pictures of the baleing, that pharo bull sure looks to have length...........good luck

I admire the cactus flowers too, OT. How something that beautiful can
come from something very undesirable is beyond me. Kinda makes one
think about things tho.

Did you all see Soapweeds pink cactus flower on another post? It is
beautiful too, and the blossom is a bit different from this one.

Jersey Lilly, the hump on the bull shows masculinity and is a desireable
trait. If a bull doesn't have a good hump, he looks like a cow and supposedly won't pass along maternal traits as well as a bull that looks
very masculine.

I like this bull. He is Papa Durabull and Rito F0203. We kept him as a spare because he kind of tore up some fence last year. We might
turn him out later. Mr. FH doesn't like to keep bulls that are very old, because he doesn't appreciate fixing fence behind them.
Since I didn't want to fix the fence either, the bull is at the house waiting...

Thanks, Haymaker. Will try to get baling pictures.

Spoke with a friend of ours this morning and he said he baled
for 5 hours and got 50 bales!  :cry2:

Nice pictures, FH. Thanks for sharing! Those cactus flowers really are lovely. I've noticed our wild roses have been in full bloom for awhile, have reddish, pink and white ones. Your new seeding looks like it's coming along well. :!: :D

I have been seeing a lot of cactus blooms here too FH. Ours are mostly yellow and lots of pink ones. I thought the same thing you did. How in the world can something so pretty come from a cactus? We don't have lots and lots of cactus, but enough in some areas.

I like your pictures too. :!:

Hump less than 2" for angus. This bull looks like he has way too much hump for what I want.

Now that is a new one on me. Too much hump...hummmmm.

I never even noticed the 'overdone' hump on that bull.
I thought it was just normal. What can it hurt?
I know we don't want a bull that looks like
a cow. I've always been taught that a hump on a bulls neck
was a good thing. :???:

Now you have my curiosity up. Guess I best go take another look at him. You all realize that he has not been turned with any cows yet
this spring, don't you?
