Calgary Stampede

What a section of broncs today at the big show-those 5 year olds they bucked in the saddle bronc were awesome-Cody Wright was 92.5-Jason Jeter won the bareback on 'Grated Coconut'. I'd love to raise just one like that in my life. Stran Smith is tearing up the calf roping and Curtis Cassidy the dogging. Was talking to Chris Hanson's cousin today-he cut his riding hand at that charity bull riding at the Ranchman's earliar this week and darned if he didn't get it stomped today-bad luck. Those poorly cared for wagon ponies are running that 5/8 of a mile in 1'17 or less-some good heats again tonight.

What was the name of the bronc that Cody Wright got the 92.5 on?
Any predictions in the saddle bronc for the $50,000?
What about for the wagons?
I know its impossible to guess at this point.
Kelly is looking good this year but I hate to jinx him by betting on him. Just takes a barrel and he is out of the big money. He won his heat, two nights in a row.
Wright and Willert are looking good in the saddle bronc. Rod got bucked off last night :( :(

Cody was 92'5 on a young horse I've never heard of before-big strong paint-to be honest I don't think it was a 92.5 point ride but it was pretty good. I'm not predicting who'll win the saddle bronc but if they get Cool Alley in the short go that's the guy I'm betting on. Wagons is a crap shoot-these first few days it's all about running clean and getting your hooks set-those guys will have something up their sleeve for the last day. Grated Coconut will be the horse to draw in bareback what an awesome bronc. Calgary is like the rank pen at the NFR every day.

Since im an Albertan I have to go with Rod Hay in SB. I dont know if he will win but I have to bet on him
I love all those Kesler horses but your right about Cool Alley. She is the best of the Keslers and the one to draw.
What about the barrel racing? Jill and Chic? Think its possible for Chic to win it, what 4 or 5 years now in a row if they do it again?

I'm kind of pulling for Shali Lord in barreel racing her father-in-law ios a buddy of mine-he had a memorable fishing trip up here. Her husband caught Ty a horned toad when we stopped in at LaMarr,Colorado a few years back-Ty still talks about that lol. Yeah Roddy will be tough to beat-still can't get over Rod Warren getting bucked off-you don't see that very often.

We lost our satelite to.
Haha This is going to get Northern riled up but you know after getting used to watching the bulls in the BPR the bulls everywhere else look kind of like pets. Dont get me wrong there is no way I would get on any of them!

We lost it too but they had a BAD storm in Calgary and area. My cousin sent me pictures, and my daughter was around there and took pictures of a tornado.

We did see Chad Harden win his heat...that made me happy.

The bulls they bucked at the Meadow Lake Challenger event were ranker than most up at Calgary so far-those 17-18 point bulls should be in hamburger not a bucking chute.I'm sure some better bulls are coming up cause they are up here. More bad news on the wagon scene-the Nolin boys lost a lead horse to a reaction to penicillin. He dropped in the wash rack I guess.

Bulls fired alot better today for sure-some aewesome wagon heats-Luke,Buddy,Gerry and Mark in the final four looks pretty good. My Dad sold Gerry Bremner's Dad a lead horse about a million years ago. Ty's gone for a couple days helping with his buddy's wagon outfit in the CPRA circuit-he'll be having fun.

In heat 9 didnt Kelly slow down to help position Mark for a better run?
I didn't see it but Mark can run on his own accord,in Ponoka he ran a heat at 60 miles|hr...he blew the other drivers out of the water, but hey blood is blood, could have pulled back a tad

That was 60km an hour.
Well it sort of looked like Kelly tried to slow down on the last turn before the home stretch to run wagon interference for Mark.
It all happened pretty quick and they did not show it twice so maybe im wrong.

Dang, still stuck in the seventies, the good old days of miles, gallons,feet,inches.....LOL

I think all of us agree up here agree Cimmaron Gerke got jobbed on Sunday-I bet 86.5 is the lowest anybody has scored on 'Grated Coconut'. You had to love june holman coming within a whisker of winning a 100,000 at 63 years old but was nice to see Jolene Seitz with the bareels for Calgary. In the long go Sunday Billy Etbauer, Dan Mortenson and Glenn O'Neill all bucked off-kind of tells you the quality of Saddle Broncs up here. Mo Forbes didn't even warm up 'Cool Alley' in the 100,000 dollar round. I think we'll see alot more rodeos going to the Calgary tournament format-there were guys from the big U'S shows up checking it out. Sure alot easier on the cowboys and great for the fans-tough on the next tier of rodeo hands though. Was pretty cool watching Cody Wright's family up on stage with him when he got his cheque-soime future bronc riders coming up there I bet.

For everyone that was right P.O.'d about the lack of TV coverage on the stampede perhaps you should get busy [email protected]
It really ticks me off that they went from 3hours of sameday coverage last year (repeated next AM also) to absolutely zip coverage
