That's pretty cool. It must have been the courthouse where they tried to prosecute the Earps for the shooting at the OK Coral. I never new the name of the court house. House was the visit. I heard alot of the historical value was lost and it became a tourist trap? I would still love to go see!
 
WOW it was really cool and yes a big tourist trap. Most of the "places" are gift shops. The only one not really changed was the courthouse. It had more meaning to me. Walking around inside was fun and interesting.
I was starting to wonder where the real Courtroom was....walked into it and was stopped dead in my tracks. It is a plain room, high ceilings, lights hanging down BUT something DEMANDS your attention. All I could do was stand and stare.....with my mouth hanging open.
Maybe its the history that I know, maybe its the ghosts of the past, maybe it is that I am an Earp. Who knows......
Next time I HAVE to bring the kids. I am sure they will love the "shoot-out" and all the other trappings..NO I did NOT go uuggggg I love history not make believe. I do have to say some of the shops had some really wonderful western art and sculpturs. Lots of books on the Earps and western/Arizona history.
I hope they feel the courtroom.
I will say Arizona has ALOT of friendly people. Awsome sunsets. Yeap will go back again.

OK, don't leave us hanging, how are you related? I didn't think Wyatt had any kids. Must be from one of the brothers? Details, details, lady! :lol:
 
Ms Sage....did you marry into the Earp family or a " blooded" Earp??

My tie to them comes in from my Mom's side as I'm " blood" related to Doc Holliday....I forgot how many x's removed.

So...how funny....even out ancestors talked back and forth to each other....small world, huh???
 
I married into the family but as Larry (father-in-law) said after Divorce was final~ once an Earp always an Earp. LOL
Nicholas Porter Earp was born in Lincoln county NC to the parents of Walter & Martha Earp.
Larry Earp is the Great great great grandson of William Earp.
Walter & William were brothers.
Larry's step grandmother taught me alot about the Earps. She said that all the NC Earp's refused to go to Wyatts funeral since he had disgraced the family name.
None of the 3 brothers had any children.
Virgil & Allie rasied his youngest sister's Adelia, 3 children.
Newton & Warren were the 2 who came back to take Morgan home for burial. That was the last anyone had heard from Newton. It was said Morgan was the family favorite and even though Newton was only half brother, Morgan's death was more than he could stand.

As was Dennis Quaid in Wyatt Earp. Matter of fact, he made the show! JMHO
 
I'll talk to Mom in the next few days and get some more info. She's a geneaolgist and REALLY gets into the itty bitty facts....me I just want to know about the horse thieves and bank robbers...the FUN people in the family!!!

Several guys in the family are named after " Doc" ......kinda cool stuff for sure!
 
Val Kilmer is a jerk in real life?

I thought HE stole Tombstone away from everyone else. He was very good in that movie, but I haven't seen him in anything else that I thought he was that good in.

What makes him a jerk? Just curious, just curious; but I really do want to know. I hate it when people like him aren't good folks.

I remember a woman writing in to Dear Abby and she talked about living in Hollywood and being disfigured. She worked in a restaurant the stars frequented and many of them were rude to her. She mentioned two very good people. John Travolta and Sylvester Sallone. That rather suprised me...though I don't know why.

Our horse trainer friend, Dave, that was just here from Texas has ran into some celebrities. He ropes with George Strait, says he is always a good guy; took Garth Brooks on a horseback tour of some property that Garth wanted to look at. At first he didn't know who Garth Brooks was as Garth came walking over to him at a horse doings and asked if he could borrow/rent a horse to look at the nearby property. Dave said he had a cap on and Dave didn't recognize him. Pretty soon Garth Brooks said, "you don't recognize me do you?" (I bet he doesn't get to say that much. :wink: ). Anyway, Dave happened to have a horse there he could ride and took him around. Said Garth was great and paid him well, even though he didn't charge him. And he had supper with Robert Duvall. Just a down-home country boy that rides hunters and jumpers and they talked horses.

I enjoyed the insight he provided and thought you would too. The real people being the stardon are intriguing to me. Like someone mentioned Buck Owens and how he acted in real life; you just never know.
 
A few years ago, there was a movie made in a small town about 10 miles from here, directed by Goldie Hawn. Can't for the life of me remember what the name of the movie was, but Kirk Russell was with her off and on durin the shooting, There was only one resturant in town, and heard lots of hometown folks say how rude they both were when they'd go in to eat lunch. Most said Kirk was worse than Goldie about makin a horses behind outta himself.

When they filmed "Thunderheart" down near here, one of my friends was near the filming quite often. She said that Sam Sheperd came to the local team ropings and roped and was a great guy, but that Val was a whiney stuck on himself, little brat. Thats all I know, but I heard the same from several other sources. I don't usually pay attention when someone sez' someone else is a pain or whatever, as I figure that anyone can be having a bad day, but when you get the same report form several people, I start to think maybe they are right.

With that being said, I think being famous can be a real pain. Sure they are making the big bucks, but they give up a lot in their persnal life. But they shouldn't be held to higher standards than anyone else.

Shoot, I thought everyone had heard Val was a pain to work with and around. Kind of like Iyn Tyson.

But then, even us jerks need friends and people who'll talk to us. :wink:

And SOMEBODY has to be a jerk!

I was around Red Stegel a little bit one time and he came off very cold and aloof. I later visited with a friend of his and she told me he is a nice, wonderful man. Guess he was having some troubles in life at the time I was around him, so since then I try real hard not to make snap judgements about folks. If they aren't any fun to hang around with, I just figure they have some problem and let it go at that.
