Canadians use NAFTA to sue the US

I've heard from people older than me that there was an agreement signed between I believe it was 'Eisenhower and Pearson' back in the 50's that gave Canada US protection in exchange for us abolishing our military aerospace program, which was superior to the US program at that time. After that meeting, Canada became 'Peace Keepers' instead of a proactive military force. That's just what I've heard so don't ask me to prove it, but it makes sense in alot of ways.

Lets see Canada has given up their military responsibilities and most of their industries including their beef industry to the US- now they've learned how to sue... They might as well petition for statehood.....
 
I really don't understand how it's the U.S.A.'s fault that Canada had BSE and had to close the border to protect ourselves... I guess that we should be able to sue Japan, and anybody else that won't let us export to them.... I really don't see as to why we should have to cater to the BS caused by looking out for ourselves... there's a little bit of difference between manufactured goods and live animals and that's what NAFTA fails to recognize and what this lawsuit fails to recogonize, it's part of the industry that we're in.... JMO

It wouldn't bother me OT!!!! Us Western/rural conservatives have been screwed by the eastern/urban liberals for so long, that even if we did get screwed by joining the USA, at least it would be a CHANGE!!! :wink:

As far as the aerospace thing goes, something odd happened in the '50's but I'm not sure exactly what. The Avro Arrow program was scrapped and Canada ended up buying some American made fighter jets shortly after.Do a google search on "Avro arrow" if you are interested. This was well before my time!!!
 
Guess we should sue for all the years lost to blue tongue and what ever else they thought we had.

Just don't bring Quebec with you- we'll trade California and a good share of New York-- Throw in Hilary and Michael Moore for free.....
