Getting back to my original question, "Do manufacturers do what they can to pay the lowest amount for their raw materials, inputs, etc... regardless of margins, profits, whatever or not?"
You said "No, sometimes they increase the price of their end product and pay more for the raw materials." Which is wrong. For ANY company, lowering input costs is ALWAYS preferential to raising prices.

Nice straw-man effort there, but you're treed on that one as well. Yes, sometimes the cost of raw materials forces companies to cut a bigger check, but you know as well as I that before doing so, they try to figure out a way not to.
