Just wondering who is using them, what synch program and what you think about them.
We've been using them for the past three years straight with mixed feelings. The first year we used them was great. We put the CIDR in day 0, gave Lutalyse on day 6, then pulled the Cidr on day 7. Got 80% bred, heifers and cows, on the first try, which I was totally amazed with. Worked out great.
Well the next year we used GnRH and PG with the CIDR's. Day 0 GnRH, day 7 Lutalyse and pulled CIDR's. Heat detected, thought we did things right, used GnRH at AI time. we must have got about 55%, it was bad.
Last year I used the CIDR's on cows only, but used the CIDR's in day 0 with GnRH, pull CIDR's on day 7 and Lutaylse. No GnRH at AI time. Got about 65% on that. Used only Lutaylse on heifers and got about 60% on them.
So as I look to how I am going to mess up and waste money this year, just wondering what everyone else was doing? I think this year I am going to go back to the program I used the first year, mainly so incase I have any anestrous heifers. Also, I am going to have to drylot the cattle for about 2 weeks this year, which I haven't had to do before. Have to drylot since I can't get into the circle I had been using for my AI pasture.
Any thoughts?
