Final group to vaccinate. Would be done but they are boarding at the neighbors. We decided to use his facilities. They are not too bad considering he leased his cows out and his system just sits there.

It was a nippy -20C (below 0 F) morning.

Heading on in.

Going by some equipment that doesn't get used this time of year around here.

A bird on a bin is worth... less. :???:

Pretty nice gear out of the wind and elements. I think is was colder in there though.

Triangle 5 and Vit A,D. Usually do them at pregtesting but these were done to early for ivomec so we left them but now we are too late for ivomec but we did them anyway.

We haven't Ivomeced yet either, the next sunny day will get one bunch done.
Other than initial scour shot on the heifers all other shots will be given two weeks prior to calving.

Can't do vaccinations in the spring because we are to busy with the cross over from curling to golf and Box Lacrosse for the boy. Oh ya, putting the crop in as well.

Never been in that dire situation.

Do you tend to attempt sliding across the green during the first days of transition. :?

It's not happened yet but I have tried to slide with the gripper on. I've only hit the ice once that I can remember but have hit the grass a time or two with some back disk issues. :?

Those bird's feet are probably frozen to the top of the bin, like a kid's tongue on a pump handle.

You are tougher than I am, to vaccinate on a chilly day like that. I tend to procrastinate until a warmer time.

On second thought, it must not be too cold because earflaps aren't being used.

The cattle are in just right condition.

Gloves and earflaps tend to come out below 0 F when there is no wind. It was coldest for my son because he drove the doorless, heaterless Ranger 3 miles there and back. He had the choice of the winterized Ranger but figured it wasn't so cold that he needed it. :?

Good job!
Gcreek misses out on the immense satisfaction one experiences at the end of the day when those cold weather jobs are finally finished.

Just not the same in fair weather.

To be fair though we weaned early this year and I must admit getting those jobs done in the fair weather was pretty easy to put up with! :-)
