My daughter is engaged to a Democrat ( Nick) who is used to his Grandparents having great wealth. Both of his parents have done several stints in drug rehab ( even thou the father is a criminal atty - - now under suspention for his 5th DUI )
A teaching tool for civil engineers at Ball State University has been marketed as a game "Sim City" and every time Nick tries to build a city it quickly gets in financial trouble and he starts raising taxes. Businesses leave for ajoining cities and then the wealthy population leaves and he goes bankrupt! But befor they loose everything he will cause ( there is a button for this ) a disaster ( earthquake, tornado, etc. ) to get federal relief.
He constantly puts in free health care, lotteries, transportation etc. Every time one of these is implemented you are told of the up front cost and of the monthly cost.
I have tried to show him and have built ajoining cities and he gets mad as I " steal " all of his industry and people - - - the people in his city are to " Brain Dead " to know his is a better way. He ends up with a population of dead beats who don't work and in exasperation finally wipes out his city.
You would think after several tries he might figure it out but he is of the mind set that everyone must conform to him.
In real life he has spent 4 years in the army and even with Grandma & pa giving him a monthly allowance on top of his army pay he came out of the army totally broke and my daughter had to send him money to get home on!
My daughter quit college to work and pay his way ( on top of the GI bill and his grandparents allowance ) thru college. He got mad at me as I only provide them with one car and have quit sending them money. I do send plane tickets for my daughter when she wants to come for a visit.
I know I was rambling but the bottom line is he really thinks he is right and I'm just a big dummy. Now he has decided the way to make a differance is to run for public office and he feels his grandparents influance will get him elected.
I feel everyone looking at public office should first be made to raise a puppy and have it evaluated as to if it has been correctly trained and if it can perform a useful purpose in life. Then if they are successful at that they need to have to operate a successful city in Sim City. I would rather find them ruining the lives of thousand of "Sims" than the real live people of this world!
I feel that most Democrats are like Nick and they really feel they are doing what we need and we better just bow down and thank them for controling what we are to dumb to do for ourselves!
