When I saw this picture I thought of the song "The Night Rider's Lament" by Chris LeDoux.

Thanks for the pics Jassy

Great pictures, Jassy. They were all very good. My favorite, like the others, is the one of Kurt. My second spot would go to the one "Saddling Up in the Dark". It is very unique. Put the other 150 up. We all like pictures.

For all you photographers out there, www.chadrad.com is having their annual photo contest. You can put three photos on per week. They announce a winner every week, with the only "prize" being the notoriety of being mentioned. There is still time to put up photos this week, as winners are announced on Mondays. The grand prize winner at the end of the month will get a coffee mug. :? :-)

When I was lookin at the pictures...and got to the one of the cattle crossin Anderson Bridge.......I could hear all the cattle beller'n and see the dirt siftin thru fallin under the bridge all over again Jassy. LOL did you have your video camera along with you too this time?

I want to know more about that bridge. It looks like and old mail order through truss from back in the 30's. What type of traffic is on it? If that were a public roadway, I would suspect that it should be posted between 3 and 12 tons depending on the span length. And I am leaning toward the 3-ton posting. The top cord is light and I see no diagonal members in the truss frame. The king posts are a little heaver but the lateral bracing at the portal is extremely light. Do you have any pictures of the underside of this bridge?
There are not many of these structures left in service.

Thanks for all the great pictures.

It's always a treat, to log on here in the morning, and find new pictures to drool over............they're all wonderful, but gotta agree with the rest of the gang, that one of Kurt is the bestest of the best! And like everyone else, I wish you would post the rest of them........... :D

Dang, yall are either a heck of enthusiast or a civil engineer ?

I am a Civil Engineer and I specialize in the maintenance and repair of in-service bridges. It helps pay for my cattle operation.

Gee...thanks everyone...I have to admit...the one of Kurt did turn out pretty good...I was just thinking of all of you that may still have dial up and how long it takes to load pictures...besides..trust me not all the other 100+ pictures turned out... :? Moving targets are sometimes hard to photograph as you all know...and for some reason the guys get tired of me having them "pose" all the time...

Now this is a picture of the same bridge from last years cattle drive..I don't know any of the specifics on the bridge other than the sign says only 5 ton limit...and we always comment to each other about going over the limit when the cattle are crossing. It's not a main road, but rather more of cattle trail/ driveway to another ranch, so it's not used very much. I'm wondering if Soapweed might know the history on this bridge?

Had to laugh Lilly...if you would come up and help you could actually hear the deafining noise of bawling and dust falling for yourself...It's getting harder to get new photo's of the same route year after year...so this year I was at the tail end of the herd. I didn't video this year just cause I can still hear all that noise in my head and didn't need it again.lol

It's very very rare to get a picture of myself, cause the guys don't know how to run my camera!!! Which is very good for me..as I'm not near as photogentic as Hubby and Kurt are...  This is a good thing!

Weaning went good today..so I'm told...I had to stay here and do some caking since I was gone yesterday, and check on the new babies too. Had one little guy born this morning in the snow...and he was shiverin , but mama was doing her best to warm him up...

Thanks again for all the comments...I do appreciate it! So now I would like to see you all post your pictures of weaning time! Oh I should have some branding pictures this weekend...never a dull moment on the ranch...Catch ya all later!
