We use dogs. You cant tell me its not hard to shoot a deer running full speed across a field at 250 yds. But we will not use feeders or corn. If we still hunt we have to do it the old fashioned way and just find where they are moving. WIth all the flood waters up this week. im going hunt a ridge in the swamp this afternoon. :D I need some sausage and ground meat. A good doe is goin to do me good.

Have the Best Stop make your deer sausage, 50-50 with pork butt. I usually asked for about half their normal seasoning as well.....and it was still spicey.

I also froze my deer meat in water, and then made small batches of fresh sausage throughout the year. Freezing 100 pounds of sausage at one time is a pain in the arse and then the stuff likely gets freezer burned.

Good luck on the hunt.

I make my own mix 8). use a 65/35 mix. I use alot more ground meat than sausage. I use it in spaghetti, chili, hell even hamburger helper :D (give me a break i dont have a wife to cook for me.) Thanks hope to get one tonight. Leavin work in a few minutes to head to the lease.

You must have quite a way with women if you can find and get a wife that quick. :-)

There´s a significance difference between deer hunting, and deer shooting.

What's the diff?

Aren't most shot from a stand/blind when they pass by close enough to "shoot"?

hunting from a blind or stand is a bit different than hunting in a high fence area. hunting from a stand/blind, you could spend the entire season there and never know if the one you are looking for is going to come by, or even if the deer is in the area, maybe another hunter shot him, maybe he got hit by a car last night, or maybe he is just to damn smart and isn't moving until after dark.....
hunting a high fence, a person knows whats in there and know they aren't going anywhere. sooner or later, you'll catch up to him... to me that takes away from the hunt. but if you got the money, and just want a booner on you wall to brag about and show your buddies, then the high fences are the ticket. what ever floats your boat

First off...... Lots a bone on those bucks heads regardless of where or how they were taken! :D That being said........ High fence shooting of game animals isn't hunting in my opinion. Might as well shoot it out of a feedlot pen. I hate the hunting shows where they act all sneaky and discuss the bucks they've seen and then ya hear the whirrrrr of the feeder going off and the deer showup! Is it legal? Sure in some states! Is it ethical? Not for me! Free range wild game on their home feild is hunting. No baiting or salting. You do the work neccesary to give yourself a chance. But to each thier own! :D I'd shoot either buck but not behind a fence.

Wonder if he's a troiphy hunter or just dumps the first one walks by. Hunting over bait is legal in Sask.-we keep one going at times but I can't hardly hunt over it-it's the most boring thing going. I like to coyote around in the muskkeg cowsense heading south of you for mulies tomorrow if Sara gets over the flu. You should post a pic of that Hereford bull my buddy is interested in.

Im not much of a trophy hunter. I hunt to eat not to show off horns. I pick and choose the ones i want. As far as women, im just a simple guy, so goin for a trophy wife is not for me.

yeah they are trying to find out more about the herds. Its not too bad. Just call it in and tag the deer. Good system if you ask me.

I never had a problem with tags when Mississippi was using them, but they stopped after only a year or two.

How many does-bucks are you allowed these days back home?

 is that because you have to many deer, or not enough people to hunt them?

Im gonna start a new thread so i can quit jackin mikes thread here.

Yanuck you can use them on cows. but go to the new thread and ask away and ill explain them to you.

When hunting for a trophy wife it's admissable to bait but also catch and release can be a prudent strategy.

NR, do you suggest worms, minnows or something a little more sparkly?
