The lord has blessed me with one. I sure wish I could post a pic. My son is sure makein one. He's not as big as I was at 17 but he sure knows his way around a cow horse and gets it done in the pens. He roped a wild jackass in a woods pasture after church yesterday. A buddy that was there said, just look at the way he coils his rope. He's sure on his way. I got him well mounted on a paint geldin with a cracker geldin and a san peppy bred filly comein to age. I know I'm bragin cause he's mine but could not love or be more proud of him.

There's nothing like seeing a youngster standing on their own two feet and testing their skills. :D

i overheard my dad braggin about me one day to one of his friends. it really hit my heart. my dad was never one to tell me congratulations or commend me on anything. not because he wasnt proud, but because we both knew there was always room for improvement. during high school, my dad dedicated his life to me for rodeo. he always had our practice pen ready, horses stalled for me to saddle ( he wouldnt saddle my horses out of superstition). He made sure i was always mounted on a good horse, got me a rig to go to the rodeos and only missed one of my rodeos in 4 years. i lost my dad 4 years ago to cancer and theres not a day that goes by that i dont thank him for everything he did for me. im 23 now and people always tell me how i take exactly after my dad, and to hear that makes me know that somewhere in that time he was with me, he molded me into the man i am today.

so cowhunter, brag all you want on your son. even though he may not say it, i can tell you that he respects you and thanks you for everything youve done for him. you never know, he may turn out to be just like you one day.

Pretty well said young man! :D Hopefully all our Dad's rank pretty high on the hero list! Every time somebody says I remind them of my Dad, it makes my day! And being proud of your son or daughter is only natural. Especially when they are on the right track. Congrats to you Cowhunter on raising a son to be proud of! :D

He's a senior this year and his mamas after him to go to collage. He wonts no part of it. He wonts to go to work at aleaco, a big ranch in south fla. Kind of like I did at his age. I've got him talked into goin part time to a jr collage in gainesville and he can take some beef cattle short corses at uf and get a sertificate for preg checkin. Then he can still help me and daywork to. He said as long as he could still hoghunt and chase them gals it would work. He still got plenty of time to grow up. He's like a young tomcat, wontin to do a little scrachin. I remember them days, don't yall? I know deep down he's haven a hard time with me bein sick and I sure feal guilty about it. People say I've lived this long because I'm so damn tuff. It aint tuff, it love for them youngins and this way of life we all share and love. I got new tumors in my brain. I just found out today. There talkin whole brain radiation now and a nother round of kemo. Oh well.

Praying for you pal! Keep your chin up when ya can! I don't know you too well but I sure hope the best for you and your family. Take Care.

To quote Mr. Chris LeDoux...... Sit tall in the saddle, hold you're head up high. Keep you're eyes fixed, where the trail meets the sky. And live like you aint afraid to die. Don't be scared, just enjoy the ride! :D
