This is the article that was posted a few days ago under the title, "Rotten Meat From China Finds Home in Mexico":
I think we can all agree that the title, "Rotten Meat From China Finds Home in Mexico", is pretty inflammatory. I don't know about the rest of you, but it sure makes me think twice about having trade with Mexico.
Yes, it's inflammatory, but it's also very misleading. It becomes even more misleading with the opening line from that post:
This isn't something that happened just across our southern border. This isn't something that happened in the country of Mexico. This article comes from a newspaper in the Philippines. The Mexico referenced in the article is the town of Mexico, in the province of Pampanga, in the Philippines.

This has nothing to do with our trade with Mexico. Granted, they probably have some food safety issues down there, too. But this was an obvious attempt to mislead. It almost had to be. What other explanation could there be? Ignorance? Surely not. Practical joke? Surely not. Maybe we can hear some kind of excuse, though. Almost anything would be better than intentional deception.
It seems that certain people on here have no limit as to just how low they will go to inflame others with their anti-trade, anti-business, anti-meat industry, anti-government views. 'Anything goes' as long as it fits their agenda seems to be the way some people operate.
I find it pretty despicable. It will be interesting to see how the usual cast of cheerleaders handles this. I would hope that they would condemn this behavior instead of laughing it off, changing the subject, or in other ways condoning it. I guess time will tell.
There's a lot of mention in Bull Session about USDA and NCBA having credibility issues. Unfortunately, there is some truth to that. There's no denying that. But it seems that there are also some individuals who have credibility issues - individuals who are always quick to blame others. And if anyone is really concerned about credibility, they should speak out against crap like this.
Garbage like this becomes a credibility issue that should concern all of us. There's just no excuse for it.

CAMP OLIVAS -- Anti-smuggling agents on Tuesday confiscated some P20 million worth of smuggled and rotten meat from a cold storage facility in the Pampanga town of Mexico.
The meat, discovered by Task Force Anti-Smuggling operatives at the Kayabe Ice Plant and Cold Storage, had been reported "missing" two months ago by the Bureau of Customs.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Chief Jesus Bersoza said the seizure of the 60,000 kilos of rotten meat was the result of an investigation conducted by the task force with the assistance of the Pampanga provincial police.
The task force is composed of customs and CIDG agents.
The group was tasked to investigate the loss of approximately two container vans of meat from China that came into the country on August 27. The consignee was named as the Asia Marketing Corporation (AMC).
He said customs has ordered meat coming from China condemned because of the outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) and bird flu in the country.
Customs Commissioner Napoleon Morales said he has directed his men to validate the importation documents of the entrepreneur who rented the cold storage space at Kayabe and determine if these are legal.
Morales said anybody could import so long as the documents for importation are complete and legal.
"You can run, but you can't hide," he warned the people trying to smuggle rotten meat into the country.
He also assured that the people involved in the incident will be dealt with accordingly.
Pampanga Provincial Police Director Leonardo Espina said the police will do their best to identify those behind the meat smuggling.
The owner of Kayabe ice plant, Allan David, said they are not required by law to determine if the meat was smuggled or not before allowing an individual or group to use their facility.
On November 10, four container vans of smuggled meat from China were also seized by personnel of the Guagua police and agriculture department. The shipment was earlier declared as frozen mackerel but contained frozen chicken and pork from China. (Sun.Star Pampanga/Sunnex)
