I"m not gonna post the picture, for those that care to see what the buzzards do to a calf, I'll post a link. Forwarned it's not a perdy site. I"m just so ticked off!!!!

Not good Lilly, our daughters here, showed her,she couldn't believe a buzzard could do that. She wondered doesn't the ma mas fight buzzards off? How big is a buzzard?

they are about the same size as a turkey buzzard...when standin on the ground, about a foot n a half tall....it's not really their size that's their advantage, it's that they attack in groups...sometimes 20 at a time. I only seen about 4 or 5 sittin in the tree when I pulled up. but who knows how many were there when it happened.
They peck their eyes out first.....catch the calf when it's sleepin. Then the calf can't see to run. All downhill from there.

They are bad news. I fear them much more than coyotes. And what's worse I've heard they are protected. They are protected more some places than others

I'm so sorry for your loss - - - I'm also glad we don't have the problem here. I'm afraid I would be in jail as I would probably use them for target practice I'll bet I could get three of the five you said were in the tree before they could move and the other two would be wise not to come back.

We've got more buzzards in Ga this time than ever before....where are they all coming from????

We're done calving now...but while it was going on it kept me and the dogs busy keeping the ' zards outta the calving lots. Turkey buzzards will kill calves also.

I have a friend who winters in south wester part of Texas. The ranch he is one raises lots of goats. He said they have to time the birthing of the nanny's, early or late (I can't remember which) because of the influx of eagles and buzzards. Sounds like many are shooting them also.

I've seen buzzards around here all my life and have yet to see one eating on anything dead.

When something dies around here, about the only thing that seems to eat on them are the fox and skunks. Maybe the coyotes now, as we don't have many fox, just a few coyotes. Parvo and mange seemed to thin the population of canines quite a bit.

We've never had a problem with coyotes killin calves (knockin on wood) never had a turkey buzzard kill a calf, but these mexican white tipped buzzards are aggressive as all git out. I assume since they are called mexican white tips, they are comin from mexico. We've had em around for a long time...here n there you'd see one or two, but they are gettin bad.

I think it's time for the three S's.
