That's some mighty beautiful country, excellent forage, good looking cattle and correct politics. Congratulations, you obviously are doing a great job.

My first thought concerning the firepower was, what are you expecting to shoot with that? Bears would be my guess.

I used a 300 win mag on my elk. It did a great job then but it is too much gun for me otherwise. Mine was ported and aside from the recoil, the sound would deafen a guy in short order. I could not shoot it without ear protection.

I admire your bride for shouldering a cannon like that. A more moderate weapon is required for mine.

Thanks JF Ranch, in a perfect world we wouldn't have to feed harvested hay or deal with oppressive heat or floods.
The fact of the matter is that most of us live in a semi-perfect world that suits us until we try to change it. :wink:

For all of your knowledge, Debbie has a .243 that fits her just fine. The problem that day was in her excitement to kill the wolf she couldn't find the shells for it that were in plain sight about 3 feet from the gun. :roll:

I like my .300 as most of what I shoot at falls down on the spot. One cow killing bear took two at 25 yards and would have had three if he hadn't fell down so soon. :wink:
A 1000 lb grizzly is as big as it sounds like, in close quarters they quadrupal in size. :lol:
