I know of a guy that swears putting a couple donkeys in with your bulls will help keep them from fighting so bad. He has a pasture that he puts probably 30 bulls in when he pulls them and always has the donkeys in there. Has anyone else heard of this or is it just coincidence? They havn't had a hurt bull from fighting in a long time.

I've known lots of people to do it over the years. Never believed in it until a neighbour that raised Limo's had a bad batch of scrappin' jugheads. Several got hurt all in one week, so he bought a couple donkeys somewhere, threw them in, and we grabbed a beer to watch the spectacle. As soon as bulls started at it, one donkey ran right into the bunch of them and started spinning around kicking out at everything and everyone. Some got it in the guts, some in the legs, some in the head. After a couple of days, bulls were happily grazing alongside 2 content donkeys.

I've seen billy goats do the same thing. Except around here goats disappear in the dark and reappear in coyote droppings. With a donkey, coyotes appear in the dark, and reappear in magpie droppings.

That's the exact same thing he told me. The donkey ran right in the fight kicking everything spining around. Does any donkey work or just males not been cut or what. This is interesting and worth a try I imagine you could find a donkey pretty cheap compaired to a $5,000 bull getting crippled.

You might want to make sure you get the right one.

Cuz someone said that any ass can start a fight but only the right kind can break one up!

My donkeys don't break up bull fights. First I've heard of it. I guess the jennys don't want to get involved, and the jack is more concerned with the jennys.

A neighbour of ours had a longhorn steer he used to keep the bulls from fighting. Every time they started a scrap, along came old longhorn wanting to get in on it. As soon as he got near, the fight was over.

Nobody wanted to play with him.

I can't imagine keeping a donkey would be good for a guys vanity, regardless of what he does!    No offense donkey keepers, it's just not the way i roll.

My neighbor figure eights a chain around the horned hereford bulls, padlocks it shut in the middle of their foreheads... works wonders  .

You two have mellowed with age and are mostly content to sit in the shade when you argue. That can't be considered fighting! :D

H would have difficulty stirring the pot. By the time guys like H have searched for stirring instructions on the bottom the pot is empty and there is only a mess to clean up.......... kind of like owning goats...... and posting photos of them with all the pride of a new father........

There is a goat page, and I am pretty sure that H is the monitor. But for some strange reason he uses his real name "Keren" on it. I guess he must be embarrassed by all of the goat butts that are posted. I think he does it to bug me. Several times a week when I load the Ranchers.net page there is a goats butt staring me in the face with his real name "Keren" underneath it. For the love of Pete man, if you have seen one goat butt you have seen them all!!
