Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed today? :? :???:
No I didn't. I'm just tired of reading how wrong everyone seems to think that government programs are for children yet everyone seems ready to rush out and get their government drought check. The problem is yes in order to help children sometimes adults get a free ride but I would rather see an adult with a free ride and a full and warm child then a child starving and cold because society got to worried their parents life would be made to easy with some help.
CRM:
We are in a disaster county. I will tell you that we would likely NOT take the aid if we were not in the predictament we're in. We have lost ALL, 100%, our entire grazing for the fall and winter. Somewhere around 4000 acres to four major fires. While we have enough hay to get through the winter, we'll have to feed hay a lot longer into the spring than normal because some of our spring pastures were burnt, and we also put cows into our calves pastures after the fires that burnt our summer range.
So, what I'm getting at is that we're at the point that we have to send cows out for the winter. Well over 75% of our herd will be going to greener pastures and their winter homes. However, this is at the cost of over $1.00 per day without trucking.
We are at the point that we will take the assistance, although we'd rather not.
In my opinion, the difference between this and welfare is that most on welfare have the opportunity to be wage earning citizens, and are not. We have taken our opportunity to be wage earning citizens and are...
