One word of caution that I have learned is not to use it on soft hearted dogs, I used it on blue heelers. And, I had excellent luck. They savvy the Eeengleesh words "get back" and "stop".

If you are teaching voice commands and the dog understands them but just ignores you...it will work. LIke stopping the dog from jumping at the horses nose..that will correct the problem fast, as the dog can associate the pain and the action immeditally. I you are trying to get the dog to do simple stuff like come to you when called...you must use a check line and call him to you and then reel him in. if he refuses a few times ...before you use the collar.... so he knows what the right response is ..but keep him on the check line till he gets it down! YOU can sure make a difference in a dog if you use good judgement and think through every situation before you shock him! YOU can also mess up a good dog if you do dumb things in the use of that collar.

I was looking at the Tritronics two dog controller. I was wondering about a softer dog as the one dog I use is a softer type but still doesn't listen very good all the time. One issue that I would really like to stop is the one dog circles the horses alot and will jump at their noses. I hate that and he get admonished and he knows we don't like it but still does it. :x

The key to using them is like any other training aid, introduce it correctly, and use it correctly. You can use an electric collar on the softest dog in the world IF it has been properly introduced to it. My border collie, Dolly, who was killed this fall, is the first stock dog I've used one on. I got her 9 years ago and she was the first 'heading' dog we'd ever had. She was very soft. I used the collar on her whenever we went out and she loved it! For years after I quit using it on her if she'd see me carrying a collar, she'd come and want me to put it on her.
If you want more info, we can talk about on this thread, or pm/email me.
Any of the TriTronics with the 1 mile range will work for you. Some have a 'tone' feature, which buzzes instead of shocking. We don't use that but have some clients who do and quite like that feature.
